How did they (AP Voters) ever vote for teams before the Internet?

They could not read newspaper or website stories about teams from other areas. They could not watch TV reports from other areas.

 

Did they just go off of scores?

 

Did they talk by phone with voters in other areas of the state?

 

How could they ever vote for All-State players?

You could get newspapers delivered and/or mailed from around the state.

 

Talking to other people around the state helped.

 

Once the top 10 is established in the preseason you go off scores from that point. You can also look at various power ratings.
