3a- Johnson Central - Clearly the best team in there district. only question mark is lack of playoff or big game experience. Should be the favorite to win region and then only need 1 big win against a CC or Highlands and they're there..

Favorite? I'm I mistaken, or don't they have to play Rockcastle County or Bell County IF they get past the first two rounds. I know Johnson Central is solid this year, but they've struggled in the postseason in the past and I'm not sure if we can call them favorites in Region IV, yet.

Read carefully...I said clearly the best team in the DISTRICT and SHOULD be the favorite to win the REGION..I'm well aware of Rockastle and Bell, but, I feel they'll be favored against either of those teams and if they play like they have been, come out with the win...

If you say they "should" be the favorite, then you are saying in your mind they are the favorite. I'm saying they're not, because they've not had enough success to make me believe they'll win that region. If they do, congratulations. We'll find out November 17.

I don't know how JC could have more success with an unbeaten record. And the past is the past. The future is now. Matney wasn't there when they went through all those horendous years of football. I think JC will make everyone believers in their program very soon.

Completely agree. And Johnson Central may very well run the table and win all of Class AAA this year. My point is simply this...they don't have any "name" wins this season (sorry, can't call Ashland anything more than an "old name") to make me truly, TRULY believe they are capable of winning 3,4 or 5 games this postseason. I do think they will win their first two, but I don't see them beating Rockcastle County at all, and probably not Bell County. But prove me wrong!

I don't think Tates Creek made the playoffs. If they pulled off an upset it really would be an upset.

Sheldon Clark is a verrrrrrrrrrry dangerous team. How often do you see the #6 ranked team in the state as a 3 seed? The Cardinal program has built themselves by playing with a chip on their shoulder.

I understand your skepticism. Johnson Central is a program that has had limited (2 or 3 wins) playoff success. However, admitting that I have not seen either Bell County or Rockcastle County play discounting Sports Overtime, I do believe that Johnson Central has to be the favorite to win the region. That may not happen, but with the season they have had, the talent on this team and the coaching staff currently in place that is my opinion.

And don't forget, as long as JC wins they're on their home feild.

Might want to wait and see what the Rock and Bell have to say about it before you get ready for the NKY squads.

The Rock says, "Not so fast boys!!!!!".

Might be a slight favorite due to home field advantage but not a big favorite over the Rock or Bell IMO. Both are top 10 teams as well.

I think they have a small chance of winning it all but a chance at that. We all know that the NKY teams and Bowling Green would be a big step up from anyone they would play in the first 3 rounds of the playoffs.

You have both Rock and Bell in the top ten. Both have successful playoff experience. Rock played Lex Cath. better than anyone in last years playoffs including BG. It just seems this game is being down played. Bad idea!!! Very Bad Idea!!!!!!!:D :D :D

Which of these teams will make the farthest run in the playoffs? Pick 1 from each classification and your reasoning for picking them. These are your "Not so Well Known" teams across the state, who've had a great year and most likely to knock off the traditional big boys..

Heres your candidates:

1a - Metcalfe Co., Bethlehem, Frankfort, Cov Holy Cross, Raceland, Harlan, Lex Christian

2a - Caldwell Co., Monroe Co., Larue Co., Washington Co., Newport, Sheldon Clark, Fleming Co.

3a - Warren East, Doss, Franklin Co, Johnson Central, Clay Co, E.Jessamine, Valley

4a - Graves Co., Owens Sr., Campbell Co, Lincoln Co, Tates Creek, GRC, N. Hardin

Here are my picks for dark horses to watch for from these candidates.

1A Harlan

2A Washington

3A Johnson Central (although I wouldn't consider them a true darkhorse the way they have played this season)

4A Lincoln County

Rock played Lex Cath. better than anyone in last years playoffs including BG.

Really?

Nov 11, 2005 LexCath 42, CovCath 39

Nov 18, 2005 LexCath 17, Highlands 0

Nov 25, 2005 LexCath 48, Rockcastle 20

Seems to me the LexCath game with CovCath was a little closer than the one with Rockcastle.

I believe these are the most likely to move on...

1a-Harlan - Plain and simple, I'm basing this on what district there in..They are pretty much on an even playing field with Somerset and Pikeville and it wouldn't shock me if they pulled it off...

2a-Larue Co.- Western is the only other strong team in there district and they could have peaked too early after there performance last week, so, i feel they've got a good shot...

3a- Johnson Central - Clearly the best team in there district. only question mark is lack of playoff or big game experience. Should be the favorite to win region and then only need 1 big win against a CC or Highlands and they're there..

4a- Owens Sr. - Teams not been talked about alot this year, but, they've got a great defense and don't have to play the Lville region teams till at least the finals and should be able to compete with any team before that..

Harlan has no chance vs. Somerset or Pikeville.
