We've finally made it to football season! :banana:

 

A lot of questions to be answered for Louisville heading into the season. What's life like post Lamar Jackson? Will the offensive line be improved? Surely the defense has to be better than last year? Will we see a more traditional Bobby Petrino offense with Jawon Pass at the helm?

 

I don't think most (or any) of those questions get answered against Bama this weekend. Bama makes most everyone look bad, so if Louisville looks terrible against them, it's not a cause for concern, IMO. Louisville's focus should be staying healthy, and seeing if they can make adjustments against the arguably the best team they'll play all year.

 

Opening line for the game has Alabama favored by 25.5, and I fully expect them to cover. It's too early and they are too good for this Louisville team to compete, IMO.

I too think Louisville can score some points, but I don't think they'll stop Alabama, maybe at all. :lol2: So I think UofL can put up some points and still not cover.

With that said I’m super excited football is staring!! Louisville will remain a mystery for sure until we have a few games under the belt. I have mediocre expectations for the season, especially with the Lamar hangover - -but as always, go Cards!!

That wouldn't shock me. 17-7 midway through the third or something like that.

 

Playing Bama is one of those games where you think your own team is better than they really are, and you think Bama is not that good because they do not wow you. But nothing you try works and you attribute it to "us not playing well," when in reality it is that Bama is more talented at virtually every position making your team look human. Last night I was watching some of the national title game and that was the case. It was 6-0 UGA right before the half, and you forget the week before UGA was running a track meet against Oklahoma.

It's hard to get a good read on Saban with this team. I knew last year's team was gonna be good by the way Saban talked all preseason. Not much from him on the pulse of this team. The injuries are a concern, but at least they are at the OLB spot. The oline is stacked with reserves in wait. Although the secondary is inexperienced; they are very talented so it won't be that big of a disadvantage. With that being said, it's just too much time for Saban to scheme for Louisville. He is the best at that (see everyone arguing for no time off between semi final games). Bama 38-Louisville-13

I’ve been trying to put together scenarios for a Louisville win. Most of them are completely mad.

 

Hard to see anything but a Bama win. There is some chance Louisville keeps it close, but it will involve significant defensive improvement from the end of last season to right now, and that’s a tough ask for a lot of new guys.

Alabama wins 27-10.

I predict pain. Alabama big in my opinion.
