Reds at Braves (6/25 - 6/27)

Votto is a bad fielder. How did he win the 2011 Gold Glove? Just get in front of that ball.

Peraza swinging at the 1st pitch after Braves P just walked in a run on 4 pitches was very frustrating. I get that you may expect a fastball down the middle there and you want to mash it, but pitch was at the very top of the zone and he popped it up. Either take it (easy approach and nothing wrong with that) or zero in on a specific pitch (presumably fastball) in a specific location (presumably not above your hands at the very top of the zone) and keep the bat on your shoulder if it's not there.

I have no problem with the bunt in extra innings. Got to count on Suarez / Winker to get that runner home from 3B with

The short answer is the run expectancy is less with a guy at 3rd and one out than a guy at 2nd and no outs I believe.

Duvall comes up big with a RBI single.

Crazy he has 44 RBIs batting basically under .200 all year.

His numbers with RISP aren’t horrible.

Nice to add an extra insurance run there. Winker with a big night.

Reds can not get Albers out at all. He is killing us.

Lorenzen could not get the job done tonight after Garrett takes a shin burner.

Reds win! Give me a win tomorrow afternoon! I want to start the Brewers series!

Reds with a nice road win and good pitching from Harvey again.

Reds may get a nice haul for Harvey with a couple more good outings.

Votto is a great hitter no question. All around great baseball player, not so much. I think where a lot of people have a problem with him is yelling the F-bomb where kids can hear it after he strikes out. Not swinging on 2-0 counts on pitches right down the middle with runners in scoring position and my favorite, he never gets in front of a ground ball.

Its seriously funny all the things people try to find to complain about with him. Top 10 hitter in baseball for like 10 straight years. The dude has been top 3 in baseball in getting on baseball for 10 straight years. Which means he is not getting out. He does tell after a strike out. But you go to a high school game you will hear a player yell like that, same in college. Now I do care about the high school player yelling that. However I don't care as much about a professional baseball player yelling it. These guys play over a 160 games a year and get paid millions to do it. It would be easy for players to lose their competitive spirit during the year. Especially on a bad baseball team. Yet Votto doing that shows he still cares and wants to do well. I rather see him do that after a strike out, than say darn oh well maybe next time.

The stuff people find to complain about truly would make one think he is the worst player on the team. If someone had never seen a reds game before. As I said in another thread. Cincinnati is just a bad sports city. Honestly as a player, I don't know why any player would want to play here in baseball or football.

He has been a very nice gamble for them. Curious what they can get in return.

Do the Reds give any thought to attempting to sign this guy to a 3 or 4 year contract?

Truly believe that Danny Darwin has had a big impact on the staff as a whole. When he visits the mound he seems like a guy who tells it like it is rather than trying to always coddle them.

Im not so sure, depends on when he hangs it up.

What he has done with one of the worst teams in baseball. One can't give him enough credit. He came back from a major injury and has performed better than anyone thought at the time. Very few folks say he is not were is paycheck anymore. When sports betting becomes legal I will place a wager on his odds to make the hall of fame.
