Boy Scouts to change name to Scouts BSA

Now the Girl Scouts are out on a recruiting trail to keep girls in Girl Scouts.

Said they were blindsided by the move.

 

 

So far, more than 3,000 girls have joined roughly 170 Cub Scout packs participating in the first phase of the new policy, and the pace will intensify this summer under a nationwide multimedia recruitment campaign titled “Scout Me In.”

 

The name change comes amid strained relations between the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America.

I thought this is what everyone wanted. One group and now after girls fought to get into Boy Scouts they are fighting to keep girls in the Girl Scouts.

I think it's a positive move. They'll have some kinks to work out but women and girls have been a presence in the BSA for quite a while.

Single gender organizations have their place. I think to claim otherwise is folly. How do you address that properly viewed through the lens of these type of organizations that are (seemingly) so disparate in their focus? Well, that's a problem someone else can solve and one I'm glad I don't have to figure out. There is so much complexity in these issues.

So the Boy Scouts were slammed for not accepting girls. Now they are slammed for accepting girls.

Boy Scouts probably should have just been shut down as a whole. Then re branded into something more modern.

Not sure but I doubt it and I doubt any parent with a straight boy would allow their son to.

Whole thing is just rediculous. It was called the" Boy Scouts" for a reason, same reason as the the other ones called "Girl Scouts". And why would a little girl or her parents want her to join the boy scouts? Just to make a stink about it? What is there to gain? Just dumb.

It sort of gives me a small chuckle that the girl scouts are putting up a stink about this. The way they pimp out those little girls to sell cookies annoys me.

Boy scouts as a whole creep me out. I can't pin point exactly what it is but just does. Always has.
