Boy Scouts to change name to Scouts BSA

It might be fun to buy a bunch of the Great Value cookies, and stand at the door next to the Girl Scouts selling them for $2.50.

I am just pointing out what an antiquated business model the Girls Scouts have.

I would like to see the Boy Scouts (whatever they are now) sell protein/energy bars.

What about trail mixes?

The more the merrier.

I think you could technically do this legally if you donated a portion to charity :lol2:

I know which ones I would buy!

If anyone did that we would all see how fast "Corporate Law" punched you in the face and had you removed from the property.

To me the whole Girl Scout Cookie thing ends up being wrong on a million levels when you play it out.

And just for fun, I couldn't resist:

Is that still a thing (or should I say, a thang)?

Oh yeah! Ok, I know wrong slogan for a similar product but sort of Wire:

Don't quite catch what you mean by "the antiquated business model". Totally self funding agency from these cookies. Does not accept money from United Way, because they don't request nor need external agency funding.

I was being nice, I mean the business model where we as a society don't call the Girl Scouts out for pumping America full of garbage that is terrible for our health.

But as a physician who is passionate about health promotion, I politely tell the girls, "No, thanks." I am concerned that every bite and every sale not only delivers an unhealthy snack, but also a dangerous nutrition message. And I'm surprised that more doctors aren't speaking up about this.

Educating doctors will not be enough. Parents and schools have a role to play as well. And the Girl Scouts, with their enormous reach and influence, could do their part and choose a new fundraising item.

Times change and our traditions evolve. What if, this spring, the girls sold fresh fruit and vegetables, tomato plants or flowers, or even pedometers? What if in addition to their characters and confidence we directly addressed the health of their bodies?

That physician sounds like a giant cheap nerd. I routinely buy Girl Scout Cookies and Boy Scout Popcorn. It is all overpriced! No one buys enough of it to do harm. It’s every day habits that hurt people.

This.

I've been buying overpriced items from girl scouts, boy scouts, school organizations, church organizations, etc. for years. There's a reason it's called fundraising.
