Boy scouts as a whole creep me out. I can't pin point exactly what it is but just does. Always has.

It sort of gives me a small chuckle that the girl scouts are putting up a stink about this. The way they pimp out those little girls to sell cookies annoys me.

Additionally the cookies are so unhealthy for everyone and that means of making money seems odd to me.

My grandfather and my brother are both Eagle Scouts. My dad and I have that dubious distinction of being “Life for Life”.

Looking back, I loved my time in the scouts, even though by age 15 there wasn’t anything in the world to convince me I was enjoying it. But I still believe in the organization and I’m a big fan of what they do.

I am an Eagle Scout. From what I have read, it is my understanding that they plan to create opportunities for girls to participate in scouting, but intend to keep boys and girls in separate units. If that is the case than I really do not have a problem with it.

I would be against having boys and girls interacting with each other during scout activities. Strictly speaking for myself, I would not have enjoyed it nearly as much if we would have had girls mixed in with us in our troop. I was rather awkward around girls at that age, and would not have been able to relax and be myself.

I've been away from scouting for about 25 years now, but from what I understand the rate of participate is much lower now that it was in the past. Two of the main camps that we would frequent are no longer operational and in at least one case is no longer owned by the scouts. So I can understand that they are looking for ways to increase participation.

I have two daughters and they both tired out Daisies which is the youngest type of Girl Scouts. While my wife was the one who attended the meetings with the girls, I wasn't impressed. It didn't seem that they ever did anything but encourage the girls to sell cookies.

I do find it funny, however, that they claim the name change to Scouts BSA, is an attempt to have a general neutral name. Maybe things have changed, but I know what BSA stood for 25 years ago. Doesn't seem all that gender neutral to me.

Unhealthy cookies, just sayin'

Unhealthy cookies, just sayin'

And expensive as well.

Doesn't that apply to most if not all cookies? If you know of any healthy cookies, let me know. I'm sure I can eat enough to negate the health benefits.

They are expensive, but oh so good! We buy one box each of a few different types and when they're gone, that's it for a year. We have a friend who stocks her freezer full of thin mints and makes them last the year.

You made it a step farther than I did. My two boys both made Eagle and they make it a point to remind me of that pretty often.

I am just pointing out what an antiquated business model the Girls Scouts have.

I would like to see the Boy Scouts (whatever they are now) sell protein/energy bars.

Hot take alert...Girl Scout Cookies are vastly overrated.

Talk about cutting your target audience in half (at least). IMO that would be a terrible business decision.

Not the Caramel deLites, they are like crack cocaine. Not that Ive ever had crack cocaine. But they are by far the best and worth a calorie.

What do the Boy Scouts currently sell?
