It means that he is currently a freshman but with the right classwork he could skip his sophomore year and be a junior next year. Most times you’ll see guys reclassify and enter college a year early but if Zion Harmon is going to reclassify now then I am guessing he will skip his sophomore year.

 

Unofficially I think the reasoning behind it is that the kid was held back at some point and is now being placed back in his rightful class.

 

To add to this (although it might not relate with Harmon) sometimes kids reclassify if they'll be too old and thus ineligible for their senior year.

Harmon turned 16 in March, so if he reclassified he would be going into college as an 18 year old instead of a 19 year old.

I think he has proven that he is special. He also works extremely hard at his craft. The way the game is played these days there is no doubt in my mind that he will make an impact in college. I’ll be more surprised if he doesn’t make an impact in college.

I think he'll be ok....he's got that something, you know it when you see it. He's been playing on the top level AAU circuit EYBL since I think 7th or 8th grade. Those are the types of people he would be playing college ball against. I do agree with another poster though; his defense is average right now at best.

I have heard that while he was at BG that he was an extremely hard worker. I don't think being 5'10" will hold him back in college. And who's to say that he won't grow a couple of inches?

If he grows to 6 foot he's going to be an issue for a lot of people in college. His older brother is around 6 foot 1

If they've never been held back, yes. Some even don't turn 16 until the summer or into their junior year.
