Are these reports true?

LABS, do you have any info.

This would be a big hit to UK. (And UL also.) Top 20 players dont come along very often in KY.

Especially during the last 8 or so years.

This is Scotty Hopson of University Heights, a 6-7 Forward for any outsiders wondering

Miss State has been big on Hopson since last year. To my knowledge, however, he has not committed. He really likes North Carolina and Tennessee. I doubt if UK has much chance of getting him.

Even if he's "committed," Hopson is just a junior ... he would have plenty of time to change his mind.

It doesn't matter if he does change his mind. The fact that he did select Mississippi State is a statement against in-state schools. I really believe his AAU coach and program had some say in his decision.

Mississippi State over UK and U of L. Interesting.

Scotty Hopson commits to Miss St. We are 0-2 with the 1 big junior in-state prospect left. Ive felt all along that we had a better shot with Darius Miller than we did with Hopson though.

Where in the heck did that come from? Thats like out of the blue there.

This is VERY surprising to say the least. Again, this shows that NO ONE really knows what these kids are thinking or planning on doing.

Over the weekend the kid himself said that Ohio State and Tennessee were the 2 teams after him the hardest. He also talked about being "blown away" by Big Blue Madness and his visit to UK.

Interesting to me that both Mackey and Hopson commit to schools prior the beginning of their junior season. That doesn't happen much these days, not w/the big time camps and all the interest in recruiting.

Per an unlinkable site.

...

Hopkinsville (Ky.) University Heights Academy small forward Scotty Hopson made that fantasy a reality tonight when he opted to pick the Bulldogs over many suitors, including several in-state schools. Not only is he a Top-10 player, he is also the No. 1 – yes, No. 1 – small forward in the nation.

"I just committed to Mississippi State, maybe 20-30 minutes ago," he said. "I thought it was the best fit for me. Mainly playing time and things like that. I am expecting to play good minutes and looking forward to being a factor to the team."

Who did he pick the Bulldogs over?

"Schools like Kentucky, Louisville, Indiana, Ohio State…schools like that. I felt they were committed to me more than the other schools," he said ...

Word from some of the UHA people is the pressure was taking its tole on him. Last week there was some talk that he kept getting Tennessee thrown up to him by some UHA insiders. Some still think he and 6'4 teammate Tyshwaun Edmundson could wind up being a package deal to Clemson. Although I'm not putting much stock into that one.

He may very well stick with Mississippi State but his recruiting process is far from over. This time next year he could be a de-committ and reopen the process I believe.

His AAU coach I believe does a good job of not pressuring kids and let's them make their choices. If it was up to UHA he would have committed to Tennessee this summer and sent letters out to everybody in the country that he was UT bound and to not make anymore contact attempts.

It makes no sense whatsoever to verbal to Mississippi State before he has even played a game as a junior at his high school.

None.

Congratulations to Mr. Hopson....:thumb:

Look forward to watching Scotty and Tyshwan in the Paintsville Hoops Classic this year. These young men have grown, from their Freshmen year.

Is Marcus still playing and how is his development. Has Scotty put on some upper body strength/size for his upcoming Junior season.
