Did you see him this summer? His game has improved unbelievably over the last year. I'm not here to get in an argument, after all opinions are opinions. However, I've watched Wright at least 10 times over the past several years, and IMO Hopson is every bit the player Wright was at the same age. Hopson is not the same kid that played last winter at UHA.

Brandan Wright is a 6'9" very long armed, power forward. I have not seen Scotty Hopson, but he is listed at 6'5" which usually means he is not quite that tall.

 

I fail to see comparisons in these two players at this point? Brandan Wright was a concensus top 5 player in the country. Are you saying Scotty Hopson is that good?

Yes, in my opinion, he is that good. I'm not a relative and I have no stake in his abilities, just my observations. He is now listed as just under 6'7" (he had a big growth spurt) and can jump out of the gym. Hopson is also a long-armed guard/forward. My comparisons to Wright are just based on my personal observations. As I said, I have watched them both play (Wright more than Hopson) and at this point, beginning the junior season, I think Hopson is every bit the player Wright was. Obviously head to head comparisons are impossible, but I am referring to the take-over-a-game ability that I've seen from Hopson. According to the Hopkinsville newspaper, Hopson is ranked the No.10 junior in the country by Rivals and is the number 1junior forward in the US. Apparently someone else has seen what I've seen.

Rivals.com also must think he is that good. They give him five stars and make him the #2 small forward recruit in this year's junior class.

:thumb: Like I said, its only my humble opinion, but he is something special to watch. This UHA junior class is pretty impressive.

One thing about Stansbury is he is a very aggressive recruiter. Hes been to UHA and Scott County several times this fall and really showed strong interest. This does not mean he is definitly going to Miss St, IMO. Hes only a junior and players change their minds all the time. Now most schools will pretty much leave him alone and allow him to concentrate on HS bball.

You are right about Stansbury. He is a very active recruiter. I recall him have two high school players coming to Mississippi State who turned professional instead although I can not remember their names. It looks like he has been given another commitment from a future star.

As I recall I believe Stansbury may have 4 guys who have committed, but then went to the pros before every coming to Miss St.

I believe that is correct on those 4 names.

I thought you said you were disappointed in the way UK recruited Mackey b/c Tubby had not been to Scott Co. Then you said Tubby had been to Maysville and Hoptown several times to see the others. The paper today says that Tubby hadn't been to Hoptown this semester either. Which is it?

IMO, Hopson will not play at Miss. State. He chose a school to end the recruiting process, and will announce he wants to play closer to home after his senior season. Just MO....

Actually, my comment was in affirmation of your statement. The rolling of the eyes was my opinion of the effects that the relationships between AAU coaches and college coaches have on the recruiting process.
