Give Coach Stansbury and Coach Cunningham credit, for recruiting Hopson. They both graduated from Campbellsville I believe and signed a player from the Henderson area, which is on their roster.

 

If Hopson decides to to play at Miss. State and honor is verbal, he will be playing for an excellent coach and system, in the SEC.

Perhaps he likes the system, coaches or the academics are better, for his major.

Why do you keep saying, about winning. Has Mississippi State not regularly competed in the NCAA's, minus a miss here or there?

 

I don't see how a high school player, that is recruited to play D1 in the SEC, can be questioned about winning. Where should he have verballed to, per your argument if interested in winning?

With his junior season about to start, I will be shocked if Scotty ends up at Miss State at the end of '08. He is going to explode in the national spotlight, way more than he already is. I watched Brandon Wright on several occasions his junior and senior seasons, and the Hopson I saw play this summer is every bit as good as Wright. I know that is a strong statement, but Hopson is one of those kids who only comes along every once in a while. He really is special and I think he will be able to hand-pick wherever he wants to go.

I saw Brandon Wright as a sophomore and I saw Hopson as a sophomore ... there is no comparison. Not to say that Hopson can't get to that level, but he's not there yet.

Did you see him this summer? His game has improved unbelievably over the last year. I'm not here to get in an argument, after all opinions are opinions. However, I've watched Wright at least 10 times over the past several years, and IMO Hopson is every bit the player Wright was at the same age. Hopson is not the same kid that played last winter at UHA.

No, I didn't see him this summer. I was only making the comparison to seeing them both play as high school sophomores.

 

I don't always put a whole lot of stock in evaluations of summer performance, given the way summer ball is run.

His AAU Coach has good relationships with several college coaches at the mid-major and major college level.

 

Some seem to be questioning his decision. It is HIS decision what he does won't effect anybody else but him. Miss. State showed him some love as he put it and that's where he wants to further his career.

 

Hopson was UHA'a 7th man last year behind Edmundsun. This year he jumps all the way up to the regions top player and their go to man. Last season he was a highlite reel haveing a dunkfest. He has good touch from the free throw line and this summer was said to have developed a solid consistent outside shot. With the 6'9 Langhi kid transferring in from Nashville Hopson will run the 3 spot and be allowed to do it inside and out. He will be surrounded by a very good supporting cast. UHA has a strong junior class.
