2A Classic - Section 3

So how do you go about who wins? Does Estill have to beat Powell twice or own the TB or vice versa from Powell's standpoint to make it to this tournament?

I'd imagine they'd play one game and the winner advances. They might designate one of the district regular season games as the "tournament" game. Who knows?

January 7 at home sites

Holmes @ Scott

Mason County @ Pendleton County

Bourbon County @ Harrison County

Western Hills @ Mercer County

Semifinals January 12 @ Mason County

Finals January 13 @ Mason County

I hope that this isn't an every year thing. This clearly looks like a setup to teams playing near another school. I would want to see Holmes travel to Western Hills or Mercer County come to Falmouth to play Pendleton every so often. Not the same setup, every single year.

What’s the enrollment requirements to qualify for the 2A tournament?

The 14th have only Estill and Powell in it. They both have slightly over 700 students. But Perry Central and Letcher Central are both under 900, I believe. My guess is they would be close to being eligible, especially if Clay Co in the 13th is in it. I wouldn’t think there are much difference in their enrollments and Clay’s.

A few years ago Perry and Letcher both had over 1000 students but as in most coal counties the populations have dropped in the last 10-15 years.

Don't most of these 10th Region teams play each other twice already?

Anyone too big for the All A Classic but not over 1,000 students. I think there are 70 eligible teams for 2018-19, with 46 actually participating.

Then Perry Central and Letcher Central from my region must have declined to participate because they both have under 1000.

I believe 45 of 72ish statewide elected to play.

Mason County plays nobody twice except last year we played Bracken twice. why, I have no idea.

Who set this up? Mason is playing at Pendleton? Maybe the best team? And Mason has a chance of being out before they come home for the Semi's and finals. Not good for attendence. Also, Coach Brad Carr getting a chance at the team that dismissed him.

Didn't Pendleton lose a lot? I know they have Dontaie but 1 person does not make the team...

I thought all district teams played each other twice in the regular season, shows how much I know haha

In most cases they do but it isn't a requirement. Each district can choose to seed and can also choose the method of seeding (i.e., how many times each team plays each other).

In the 10th, the 40th District play each team twice and in the 37th District they play once. Not sure what the 38th will do next year as its their first year seeding. No one in the 10th in this tournament play twice during the season unless the 38th does it with Pendleton County and Harrison County.

This deal will never fly with just 45 of the 72 committed.
