Cooper JV beat Scott JV 44-41...interesting side note, Scott’s JV Team was down 20 in the 3rd Quarter and had a shot to put it into Overtime and missed. It was 2 great games in Taylor Mill last night

I bring up the foul count because when it was it 6-1, Scott was not getting the same whistle as Cooper, plain and simple and the foul count shows that. Uhhhh yes, officials call fouls and violations. So 50% of there job is to determine if something is a foul or not.

The fouls were 6-1 in Coopers favor at one point in the first half...don’t blame the officials.

Yeah those kids who play Varsity, JV and Freshmen could very well have a impact on the varsity level next year...just like you said they could “struggle mightily” There is always two sides to everything.

They have also played a very competitive schedule that should prepare them for the postseason by playing John Hardin twice (neutral & away game), Henry Clay (neutral), Beechwood (away), Cov Cath (away), played a top 5 team from Alabama in Sparkman High and won, played South Laurel, played Campbell, play SK tonight, play North College Hill (1st in their conference in Ohio) and Cooper next week. Scott arguably has one of the toughest schedule in the state and has battled injury all year. Definitely have to play the games with what you got and win the games you’re suppose to win. While battling injury and playing a hard schedule is no excuse to lose a game, you have to think that Scott will be battle tested and be a dangerous team come postseason time and at that time everyone is 0-0 and ANYTHING can happen! Also, speaking about the future...3 freshman and a 8th grader playing JV and the freshman team just won the 10th Region Tournament and Woodland’s 8th and 7th Grade teams had great seasons. To me, seems like the future might be brighter than you think in Taylor Mill.

Scott got a lot of love in this article and I just wanted to list two more games for the Eagles that should be fun to watch. 2/1 Campbell County @ Scott (7:30 tip) This game is a rematch of the 2017 & 2018 10th Region Championship game. Both teams are very talented and should have a great atmosphere as the past matchups have. 2/8 Simon Kenton @ Scott (7:30 tip) If you know NKY basketball, you know the history of SK vs Scott! This rivalry game has always been a great game (no matter what the talent level is for either team) and always brings an awesome crowd. The 2018-2019 NKY HS Boys Basketball season should be a good one to watch! The future of basketball in this area is bright and I’m excited to see how it all plays out! Good luck to all!

Because he can take a 17/18 year old kid who thinks he is hot stuff and has everyone telling him he is hot stuff and sit him down and coach him in the 9 months he has to work with them and he consistently makes them better Pegues has 4 maybe even 5 years to work with his guys

And the majority of them get better while they are there...hense why Payne is one of the BEST big man coaches.

Because Pegues and Xavier have sent SOOOOO many big men to the NBA #fartnoise if developing guys to be G-League and International guys is your cup of tea then I can see where you are coming from...But Payne takes those young guys that UK gets and molds them into monsters come march in the very short amount of time to work with them. I also understand that UK and Xavier talent levels are different but hey recruit better then Xavier

Would make sense to schedule a home and home with UK coming to Memphis this season (2018-2019) with the return game at Rupp in 2019-2020...other than that makes zero sense for UK until Memphis is even relevant again. Too much for UK to lose and nothing to gain!

Jake is a talented player that fits the Xavier mold (with Mack they had 3-4 bigs in rotation with Kanter, Gates, O’Mara, and Jones) and I agree that if Steele gets the jobs this is a non issue like was said earlier in the post. You 100% cant teach that height and I’m not knocking the kids talents but I believe Mack did a great job handling the “bigs by committee” style of play they have had with the likes of Freese, Stainbrook, Gates, O’Mara, etc AND HE KEPT EVERYONE HAPPY!!! I don’t know how well an outsider would be able to handle that situation with Gates & Jones coming back and another freshman PF coming in with Walters the same way Mack did. Also...in this day in age, you never know what transfer is going to walk on campus looking for a new home. I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors!

Don't know how long you can hold a graduate assistant position for or even if this person is interested in the job but a dark horse for this position in my eyes is Ricardo Johnson (Xavier's GA) would be a fantastic fit.

The logical reason is playing in the Sweet 16 and knowing that if you win YOU ARE THE ONLY State Champion is the best thing for HS kids. Having classes would 100% affect attendance. If I had kids in 1A playing in the state tourney...I would have no desire to go the other one unless high level talent is playing, which to be real is not a guarantee year in and year out. Just like the ole saying goes “IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT” The Sweet 16 is the best thing ever...quit messing up a good thing!

So the schools that are over 1000+ have a tournament should have one called “Big School Classic” and have it at the Yum! Center? This idea is one that I am not for due to it 100% will lead to classifications.

1 State Champion is the best thing about KY Basketball! It’s awesome that everyone competes against everyone. If i was a head coach and was in the new “2A”...how would it benefit my team to play any other level? It makes all games against other classes rivals or not irrelevant IMO
