I sense a lot of people hoping Mack doesn't go to Louisville.

 

I admit I hope he doesn't, but it doesn't have anything to do with it being Louisville.

 

Wife won't be happy if he leaves, and I enjoy seeing X do well.

This has happened before. Nothing new here. Gillen, Prosser, Matta, Miller. If Mack leaves, XU will survive and probably continue to thrive with the next guy.

I work with a lot of XU grads, they all go back to this, we will find the next best coach for our program. They have done a good job with that, so I trust XU.

Style is different than the UofL MO, but I realize with recruiting a coaches style of players that can change in time.

 

Secondly, im not sure how well he would do in the ACC. It is a huge step up from the Big East, not say he wouldn't be UNC, Duke, Virginia successful, but its just a big step up. Is UofL ok with being 5th, 6th, 7th best team in the conference? I think not.

 

 

Third thing is just the issues at UofL, yes it will take time to in a sense rebuild, get past, move on from them, but I question whether Mack really wants to go through all that. Grant he does go through it, UofL is a top 5 team in 4-5 years, ACC Champ multiple years, and well put me in a bird cage with a bunch of cardinals and let them poop all over me cause he would be the MAN, just dont know that he wants too.

 

But money talks, its not everything but it talks.

It’s amazing how well they’ve done finding the next guy up. As a UD alumnus, it’s impossible not to be jealous of that ability to keep hiring great coaches.

The truth is that I question that for just about every potential candidate. And FWIW, we had a Hall of Fame coach for our first three years in the ACC and he managed just one win over Virginia in SIX TRIES and one win each over UNC and Duke.

 

In the end, when I put together a list of potential coaches I would want, Mack is in there. When I narrow that list down to people that the university actually has a reasonable shot of getting to come here, then Mack is at the top.

Norton Outdoor Advertising tweeted out this picture yesterday...sounds like the Norton folks are really interested in Xavier pretty worried about the current prospects for Mack.

 

I know that I am not the norm when it comes to UK fans, but I want him to go to UL. College basketball in the bluegrass and just in general is better when UL is a player.

 

UL will be a player regardless. I'd like Mack to stay at X to keep them in the top ten conversation. I know they've had a list of great coaches but you never know when that will end. On the other hand, if they didn't get Mack UL is still going to get a top level coach.
