How far can this Raceland team go?

Featured Replies

For one, Raceland did not get whipped by LCA. The Rams played their WORST game of the season that night and still only got beat 21-10. The LCA loss was the best thing to happen to the Rams. They are more focused and determined than ever before. Remember my words... Raceland WILL beat LCA. No doubt about it. After they do that, I am VERY confident that they can make it all the way to Papa Johns. The RACELAND RAMS are LIGIT! Something special is happening in Raceland. But dont take my word for it, the stats and the play of the young men do all the talking. I advise you not to make an opinion about the Rams until you have seen them play.

Anything is possible in any given game. I remember several years ago when The Rams went to NCC in the playoffs as a #4 seed and beat the #1 seed NCC. Then went to Bath Co. the next week and got beat. I believe this years Rams can make a good run if they stay focused and the coaches do their job and get our rams ready. We'll just take each game as it comes and support our Rams.

I agree MVP 007, we did not play our best game. I believe that the play of LCA had a lot to do with that. Their overall speed on defense played a major role in their success in stopping the Raceland passing game and their coaches had a great game plan that we were not able to overcome. That night their young freshman QB became a man and gave LCA a boost to an already powerful offense. Their RB hayden is the real deal.

If we meet LCA again it will also be another battle. While the Rams have a legit shot at making a run in the playoffs LCA also has that same opportunity. They beat us head to head & have owned us everytime we have played so until we beat them I have to give them the upper hand. As The Greatest Fan stated we just need to stay focused and play one game at a time. We have to beat Paris before we can begin to think about LCA or anyone else. Monday begins a new season.

We will probably have to beat Paris 2 weeks in a row to meet LCA again. If 2 teams are even remotely closely matched it's tough to beat them twice. That's why I say take each game as it comes.

I will be glad to answer cvillecat. No, I have not seen either Raceland nor LCA play live this yr but have seen tape and talked to people who have. Since I can remember too well when BHS played LCA last yr and they gave us an old fashioned whippin', they lost a lot to graduation and I can't imagine them being as good as last yr. As for the Raceland team, think about something, since I am from BHS I have watched this playoff game for yrs. Raceland always came into this game w/what people would say is the best team ever. Guess what, they were never good enough to win against BHS. The closest they came was in '84 when they hosed the field down w/the fire trucks just to slow BHS down, it worked but they still lost.

As to not get off the thread, again I say, they don't get past LCA and if they do they have to come to BHS which I know they hate to come north to play. Thank you for respecting my opinion as I also respect yours. I am not right all the time just most of the time.

:thumb: Excelent post and comments. I believe that this Raceland team has the potential to go to the regional finals and beyond. This is a year when Raceland has put all facets of the game together. Defense, Offense, Special Teams and maybe more important than anything is their attitude of never being satisfied. I cannot predict what will happen in any of these playoff games, I don't think that anyone can. I can say that this years Rams have as good and better chance of going deep in to the playoffs as any have. They play as ONE and do not quit.

3pt I don't know where you came up with that at but I can assure that NEVER happened. If so, believe me I would admit it. You are correct in that Raceland has never beaten Beechwood but the last accusation imo is just insane. Beechwood won each time and deserved to, I will not take anything away from a team that has beaten us and I have to wonder why that you would take that shot at Raceland. Does it make you feel better or more superior?? I just can't get over why you would say that:confused: even if it was true (which it absolutely is not). Oh well, I do want to thank you for the Bullentin Board material IF Raceland should play Beechwood again.

Thanks for your honest answer. I to have watched the BHS & Raceland playoff games for many years. You are right we have never beat Beechwood. Our program has nothing but respect for the Beechwood football program and it's tradition. There is an old saying in our town that a former coach used to say. He said we were Beechwood aged!! Raceland has traveled into Beechwood with some good football teams and came away with a loss each time. I have watched Raceland football since the 60's. This Raceland team is the best I have ever watched. whether we have enough to compete with the Beechwood's & NCC I can't answer that question, that is why they play. Just as you stated with last years game against LCA, anything can happen.

LCA has a very good football team and beat us head to head. The only thing I can guarantee is that we will show up and play every play from start to finish and that is all that you can ask from the kids.

By the way, we really enjoy coming to Beechwood to play, You have great facilities and the people are very knowledgeable football fans and always make us feel welcome. Playing the Beechwoods also make you a better football team in the future and just maybe the future is now for us. We have certainly paid our dues.:thumb:

I also take offense to the mention of the hose incident. I have never in my lifetime heard mention of any such incident. I have no idea where you got your information about that event. If you have facts of this occuring plese PM me with the info. The Raceland school system and athletic Depts take great pride in their character and what they represent to the kids & community and a comment like this is a slap in the face to our program.

I do not like the idea of having to play a team in back to back weeks either TGf.

Wow.

I agree. This is a serious accusation.

Have you heard of this? I honestly have not.

:thumb: :thumb: Great post cvcille, we flat got beat that night by a well coached, well prepared and talented football team. No excuses, I do hope that we get the chance to play again and see what happens on that paticular night if it gets to that.

No one around here has.

If we play there you think they will let us bring the fire trucks?

   Lets not get the fire truck thing going again. I don't know wether you are talking about the contoversial "fire truck" parades topic in past threads or the ridiculous accusation in this thread but my answer is the same. Besides, Raceland's city water bills are high enough, we don't need another rate hike!:D
