How far can this Raceland team go?

Featured Replies

I want to see Raceland do well cause for years they have got a pretty raw deal having to play the Beechwoods and NCC's but unfortunately they wont get past LCA and even if they do they wont past a NKY team

We really do not consider playing the NKY teams a raw deal. playing teams of their caliber has taught us things over the years that IMO is one of the reasons we are playing well this season. The NKY teams are highly talented football teams. Playing them allows the younger players to see the little things that these teams do that makes them above everyone else. We have taken a beating on most ocassions but have played respectively in others. Though there is no moral victory in a loss, we have learned a few things from playing these teams. I just hope we are able to put the learning process to use in this years playoffs.

Having been around football as long as old rambler I agree. Many years we have said, How can we replace what we lost? And next year the boys always step it up and fill the void. You have to remember, we are a small community of around 2500 people. I said 2500 people, not players. Probably 99.0% of the varsity are homebred and have played together since they were 6 or 8 years old. That's why Ram pride runs deep. In some cases your talking 2nd or 3rd generatiion Rams.

:thumb: :thumb: great post tgf.

How exciting to watch a former player on TV playing for the #1 team in the country.

As for having to play against the NKY teams every yr, we thought the same thing about having to play Pikeville every yr. All these rivals are great and speaking for NKY, if I may, we always get excited to play the old teams and are kinda disappointed if we don't get to play them each yr. You develop a great respect for the programs and the communties you go to each yr.

I will be glad to answer cvillecat. No, I have not seen either Raceland nor LCA play live this yr but have seen tape and talked to people who have. Since I can remember too well when BHS played LCA last yr and they gave us an old fashioned whippin', they lost a lot to graduation and I can't imagine them being as good as last yr. As for the Raceland team, think about something, since I am from BHS I have watched this playoff game for yrs. Raceland always came into this game w/what people would say is the best team ever. Guess what, they were never good enough to win against BHS. The closest they came was in '84 when they hosed the field down w/the fire trucks just to slow BHS down, it worked but they still lost.

As to not get off the thread, again I say, they don't get past LCA and if they do they have to come to BHS which I know they hate to come north to play. Thank you for respecting my opinion as I also respect yours. I am not right all the time just most of the time.

Sounds like a plumbing issue...actually, the Rams seem like a strong multi-facetted team, now the fire trucks probably have lots of faucets*grin. I can't imagine that this incident ever occurred, even in the "good old times" of the early 80's.

 Now the Raceland fans will be on you. But I, like you, don't think the Rams will win , UNLESS, they use the short passing game more. And I don't mean quick screens to the WR. I mean short passes over the middle.

Imo the Ramblers will need to run the ball more and mix it up like they have been doing since the loss vs. LCA. That is my feelings and the one thing that I do know for sure is that if all we are thinking or talking about is a possible rematch with LCA...........there will be no rematch with LCA:eek: . Stay focused Rams and play the next play / one game at a time / finish the drill or any of those other sayings that we can think of about not looking ahead or past anyone.

If Raceland goes to LCA for the District Championship - Raceland puts it out of reach in the third quarter. Raceland will win that game. If it is played. I have seen both play and have seen the film from their previous match up. Raceland is the better team. Raceland will need to play field position and not let LCA's kicking game hurt them and cause them to play on a long field all night.

But trust me - Pairs and Bath County will be doing everything possible to see that the LCA / Raceland match up does not take place.

Like I said 4 or 5 weeks ago when OldRambler and Cville misunderstood me - I'd rather see Bath Co. play LCA in the playoffs rather than Bath Co. play Raceland.

Good Luck to all! I'm behind whoever comes out of this District.:thumb:

:thumb: :thumb: We here at Raceland know that we will now have to get by Paris for 2 consecutive weeks for a Rams/LCA rematch in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Raceland plays Paris this Friday in the regular season finale and I belive that it will be these two teams again the next week in the first round of the playoffs regardless of who wins this week. I do not like the idea of playing the same team (no matter who it is) for two consecutive weeks. Especially with the 2nd time being a playoff game, as they say though...it is what it is and that's the way it is set up so no use in complaining about it.

Rams will go as far as lines will take them ... as go up in playoffs skill players begin to equal out and skill with lines and linebackers takes over as weather gets colder , stakes get higher , etc ,etc ....

Devils secret of success last year was the good mix of all this that made plays in critical situations - Devils just barely had enough. I think Racelend can do this .... have the kids and coaching , I really like Raceland's staff ...

Would love to travel to Pizza box for two teams from this area ... Go Rams ...

I'm really glad to see everyone's opinion on this team. It has stayed classy and every thread should strive to be half as classy as this one. I hope the Rams go all the way. I don't really think it's probable but crazier things have happened. It's really hard for a community of 2500 people to compete with the private schools and powerhouse 1A schools but if any Raceland team ever in their history could, I've heard from numerous people that it is this one. Good luck to the Rams. Ask yourself "Why not us"

:thumb: Thank you for your support and kind words also UCF and what you said in this post is absolutely true.

3pt I don't know where you came up with that at but I can assure that NEVER happened. If so, believe me I would admit it. You are correct in that Raceland has never beaten Beechwood but the last accusation imo is just insane. Beechwood won each time and deserved to, I will not take anything away from a team that has beaten us and I have to wonder why that you would take that shot at Raceland. Does it make you feel better or more superior?? I just can't get over why you would say that:confused: even if it was true (which it absolutely is not). Oh well, I do want to thank you for the Bullentin Board material IF Raceland should play Beechwood again.

I have already used 3pt's comment for the bottom of my doggy cage. Just like the dog some of those comments are just as full of it. I dont think the people of Beechwood would appreciate his comments. I know some of them and they frankly have more class than that.

Let me enlighten everyone who disagreed w/my comment regarding the watering of the field. Were any of you there in '84 to see the game. I was on the field. The only wet place in the entire county was the field. It had not rained there all week. We, BHS, were told by a neighboring school, who I know there is no love loss w/that they saw a fire truck that afternoon watering the field. Believe me, as wet and muddy as the field was it would have had to rain for the entire day up until kickoff. So, you can believe what you want but I was running in mud up to my ankles.

As for bringing the fire trucks to BHS, bring them, we have turf! I just hope both teams are still playing that week. I think BHS will be but I will again pick LCA to come out of that area playoff. I am rooting for Raceland, I would rather play at home rather than drive to Lex. As everyone has stated, the people of Raceland have always been friendly and our rival goes way back.

Go RAMS!

Honestly sounds like you all want another lost to LCA. These kind of comments are as bad as everyone blaming injuries or the ref's when they get beat. Lets just let Raceland play their game. We as fans will support them and maybe they would appreciate you opinion and the walk down memory lane on the Beechwood threads.

I let the muddy field thing go yesterday but you all keep bringing it up. If you were at the game you would know how muddy it was and we were told there was not that much rain. That is all was said besides one of your rival schools telling us the fire truck story. I am just reporting what I saw and what was told to us. Don't condemn me for reporting a story.

At least the Beechwood fans have a memory lane.

I will do you and myself a favor and save my comments for the top 5 teams.

We will hopefully welcome those comments then. I do not want to sound negative tonight but i have been on two different threads and it is a bashing match. Instead of talking to buddies and hoping the best for our teams in Kentucky it has turned out to be a he said she said match. I thought this was a fun site. Uplifting for people to have a good time and debate the games. No offense but I dont think BGP was set up for people to get upset. These are the kids we coach, parent, grandparent, friends etc..

I think we all need to count to ten before we comment on the negative.
