  • I'm thinking Kevin is quite pleased with his stable of athletes going forward, and after having paid his dues getting to this point would like to stay and reap some of the rewards in the City of Beaut

I know some assistant coaches and former players that would stand up for him, behind him, or even in front of him.

I think this thread has become ignorant of uninformed people. However, I agree this isn't the Holmes of old, and I don't know when it will return to that status. This job will lack the sexy hire of the past, but I do think really good coaches will apply for it. Brad Carr will be on the short list, but who joins him. Have to think Grammer, since he's on staff and has been a head coach.

How about the little Listerman from Highlands? Could follow in dad's footsteps and get a fresh start.

This isn’t the Holmes of the 80’s, 90’s or early 2000’s. He might be a Holmes grad but it was too long ago to matter.

You haven't talked to him lately.

Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog!

I agree. Highlands faithful has been surprisingly patient with Kevin.

Dale Brown???

I think he'll apply. Would seem to be a good fit. Not a good look to leave after one year again but I don't think anyone thinks that he'll be around any longer than Rusch anyway.

Don't know how long you can hold a graduate assistant position for or even if this person is interested in the job but a dark horse for this position in my eyes is Ricardo Johnson (Xavier's GA) would be a fantastic fit.

You absolutely beat me to this candidate! Ricardo would be an EXCELLENT candidate. Prior to landing the GA job at Xavier RJ was helping to coach AAU with KY Select who is based out of Holmes/Covington and did a very good job working with players from not only Holmes but from NKY. Yes he would be a dark horse but he would be someone that would relate to players at that age and be one of their own and would certainly be in it for the long haul.

Ricardo would be a good choice but I believe he is wanting to stay in college coaching. With his connections at Xavier, I anticipate him landing on a D1 staff somewhere quickly.

Wouldn’t the arrival of the Calloway kid on the scene be an intriguing incentive for any aspiring coach?

I know he was hurt last year and not sure of any other developments on his front, but - as many will attest - that young man is beyond a special talent.

Who is the Galloway kid

Brad Carr would be a terrific hire.

When he got to Scott there was not a lot of basketball success. I believe they had only been to one region final and that was in 1989 when they won the region.

Scott for years was considered a notoriously soft program upon his arrival.

Scott went to 10 regions in his 12 years at Scott and all but one were in the 10th Region and went to two region finals.

Scott usually played tough schedules and a district with Campbell County and Brossart it is not an easy road.

What is to like about Carr going to Holmes? I would imagine he would be instrumental in developing elementary programs on up to the high school programs maybe even incorporating a Little Bulldogs program.

That is something that has not ever been done before, I dont think in Covington and there needs to be some attention paid to it because the talent ebbs and flows.

I believe he would incorporate a more wide open and attacking offense and defense and cater his style to talent.

Whoever it is will have to invest a lot of time of developing talent up and down through the schools and be patient as the program grows. There is no quick fix especially with as many seniors that they are losing.

Once again, I wouldn’t hire Carr just based on his off the court issues. And from what I’m hearing we’ve only heard the tip of the iceberg.
