February 20, 20188 yr 27 and 12 for Drew, he passed his mother on the scoring list. It was great to see Nick Ayers start and finish the game.
February 20, 20188 yr McDonald is really playing well the last couple weeks. Last 5 he's going for 17.2 ppg, 11.2 rpg, & 3 apg. Shooting 83% from the line and 40% from deep during that time. 4 double doubles.

All I keep hearing last night was "McDonald for 3 (and occasionally for 2)
February 20, 20188 yr Interesting notes as the season winds down.... If NKU can win their last two, and Wright State drops one of theirs, the Norse win the conference regular season crown, which I believe locks them in to an automatic NIT bid should they stumble in the conference tournament. On the other hand, a 2nd or 3rd place finish pits them on the opposite side of the tournament bracket of both Wright State and Oakland, which would be nice. UIC has the potential to sweep both NKU & Wright State this weekend. If that happens, we have a 3-way tie for 1st and I have no clue how they do a tie-breaker.

I was very content with finishing second until I realized the automatic NIT bid went to the conference regular season champ. Wonder what are chances (if any) are getting an NIT bid if we finish second?
February 20, 20188 yr I would think the Norse get an NIT bid if they win out, even if Wright State wins out. They will have tied for conference title (WSU has tie breaker) and have 22 wins + any in conference tournament. The only wrench would be if someone other than Wright State wins conference title bumping them to the NIT. I would think Horizon could get 2 teams in NIT. Having BB&T arena won't hurt here with first round games played on-site.

February 20, 20188 yr Solid win last night. I liked the defensive effort in holding a pretty good offensive team to 51 points. They are going to need that to win the conference. I was of the thinking of finishing second was best but Oakland is in a free fall and down two starters. Let's just go ahead and win this thing--the NIT bid being the kicker (I had forgotten about that as well). I think they get into the NIT if they are at 24 wins and lose in the finals but let's hope that is not the case.

Conference tie-break goes like this: head to head, then record against the next best team going down the league standings. However, I'm not sure how that works in a three-way. I'm assuming Wright State would hold all tie-breakers with its sweep over NKU (they would have them in the head-to-head and UIC on the fact that they swept NKU and UIC did not).
February 20, 20188 yr Wonder what are chances (if any) are getting an NIT bid if we finish second? Low, I'd imagine. Since conference champions automatically qualify for the NIT, and several will no doubt lose their conference tournaments, a 32-team field is actually more like a 24-team field. Most of those bids go to major conference teams. If NKU wants to make the NIT (if, of course, the don't win the conference tournament) they'd better win the league.
February 22, 20188 yr If UIC sweeps NKU and WSU they still can't win the title unless WSU losses both games. In a 3 way tie WSU wins conf. with a 3-1 record against NKU and UIC. UIC would finish second with a 2-2 record and NKU would finish third with 1-3 record.
