I have been told that Coach Biggs is very interested in playing Rose Hill. Now we will see if he has he juice to run his own program or if the mafia is the power behind the throne.

The point is not whether Biggs has the stuff to schedule the Hill, from all I've seen of him he has that and then some. The point is the powers that be won't let him. If he hasn't figured out who's in charge by now, he will soon. :lol:

What's your prediction? Will there be a game between Ashland and Rose Hill or not?

 

If it doesn't take place it isn't because of Coach Biggs. I truely believe he would play in a heart beat. I mean what I have said it is time to move on and let the young men who work their rear ends off play.

I bet they get more locally televised games this season than Marshall basketball does.

There is no gray area on this one, either they play or they don't. If they don't you won't be able to spin it any other way. :thumb:

There is not a chance they will play during the regular season.RH wants the game much more than Ashland does and that in itself is enough for Ashland not to schedule.However the game makes sense- no matter how you view it.

For Ashland they get to play a quality opponent who happens to be in the same district.They have scheduled the other two district teams(Fairview/Boyd County).Not many teams want to play the first game of the district"blind."This almost cost Ashland last year in the first round of the district against RH.If it is a home game Ashland will be assured of a huge turnout with an electric atmosphere which is not always the case.An away game at the Hill would entail a 5 minute bus ride and would provide easy access for Tomcat fans.All the reasons that would allow Ashland to benefit from the game would also hold true for Rose Hill.

As a fan of another school in the area I would love to be able to sit back and watch them play.But as I said earlier I don't see this happening and I believe the more that RH fans clamor for a game the more entrenched certain Ashland fans will be against a meeting.

And although this is for another thread, why not seed the district, you have to play everyone that way, or at least have to take an F if you no show, otherwise, welcome to your first meeting in the district opener.

You know what, I just had this conversation with my best friend and we hashed out all of the times that with a draw East and West girls faced each other in the first round of the district and were far and away the 2 best teams in the region but only 1 would make it out of the district. Had the district been seeded, they would both have made it to the region and played one another on a neutral floor in Morehead. I for one (two I should say) think that it would be wise for the entire state to be one or the other and not leave it up to the districts. I'm sure that thought is not shared be many, especially for the likes of many small schools in districts with large schools.

The problem is that each vote will be what may be in the best interest of the school's team strength that particular year.

I dont really understand what difference it makes whether they play or not? They didn't play last year during the regular season, so why do all the RH people 'expect' them to this year?

 

I can't really understand why some schools almost outright demand other schools to play them. If a school decides not to play another school, for whatever reason, why can't people just respect it and move on? :confused:

Well, it appears that GIAT has fired an impressive shot. If it turns out to be other than a blank, my colleagues who have long prodded and dug for the game better be ready to accept the challenge. I would also expect Ashland to honor a similar arrangement during each of the following 5 years or so.

 

As I have stated previously on numerous occasions, I prefer that the two not play in any sport until forced to do so by tournaments. The rhetoric coming from both directions will not be pleasant because, even if games are scheduled, there will still be no mutual trust or respect. Although I would never be deemed a peacemaker on this subject, I do prefer to avoid unnecessary turmoil.
