Ok you sucked me in. We have talked about this. Like you and said there are something’s that we agree on and some we disagree on. Our older kids had some depth at there positions. More importantly they did there jobs they were asked to do. Their was a Cowboy who rattled some cages. Their was a guy who would get you a 15yrd penalty for a shot out of bounds. Those were plays that needed to be made sometimes. I told people 5 years ago that there was a low cycle coming I saw it in the FTJRFL but no one wanted to listen.

Now with a JR to be and another one in the 8th grade you are there those of us for BW and those against. But as a parent who has was there and saw kid who held a team like Christian Co to 0 points with all th talent I the world because the birds did what they were told to do. Sweep make no mistake about it I do support BW still doesn’t mean I don’t scratch me head and say what the h@@l was that. I know that there is a letterman’s jacket in one closet with no room for patches and one with no patches and one Ranger saying hey can you use my last patch that woils to fit on mine on yours.

So Lou Holtz never ever played the game your logic would say that he would not have been a good coach in reality he was a great coach who never played a snap. Please think about what you post before you do. BW is the head coach people need to get with that and support him and the boys. If you want to see MHFGA.

Yes so does everyone else who has kids in the program. It’s hard for a kid who watched his older brother be the first class to Win 4 rings and now a chance at two of his own. There were years when even Dale had a few years of non ring winning seasons in a row and everyone wasn’t ready to lynch him!! Bottom line is are things great nope. Are they better today then two years ago or even last year I would say yes. Is Siple going to missed I would say yes. Do some changes need to happen I would agree but everyone bashing the guy isnt healthy for the TEAM. The end of the day it’s about the team in 2018 for now. I agree with the post that some changes need to happen.

Non ring season but those kids did get a ring at some point in their time as a hhs football player. Last lapse was the class who graduated in 1996. Before that was the mid 80s. Every player from the 96 season has had a ring. This current graduating class won’t have one. Pretty big achievement basically to say if you played for Highlands you are owner of a state championship.

That’s what it’s showing with some current coaches. Some great coaches who never played, yes...

If these are the cards that will be dealt for this upcoming season I will support it. I may not agree but if supporting BW will help HHS going forward I will take the gamble.

With this coaching shake up does this open the door for new coaches to be hired? Also who are the “qualified” coaches on the staff and what positions are they coaching? Have these coaches been vetted by the administration to make sure they can help HHS football succeed. This program doesn’t need spectator coaches. Is there a qualified person who has played that position in the past coaching that position? Behymer for example... played at highlands as a linebacker.. he is coaching the linebackers. Who is coaching the qbs, Rbs, wide receivers, line, dbs, dline, special teams. From what I have seen the past D-coordinator never played a down of football in his life. That showed when he averaged giving up 48 points per game. Is BW afraid of having coaches in positions that know more than him. The offensive coordinator is a past head coach, hhs grad and wore the uniform. He had a short stent as a head coach. So with this latest coach shake up will it open the door to getting more qualified people into coach.

The football world is full of successful coaches that have never played the position they coach. It is also filled with successfull coaches with limited to no playing experience. Trinity’s OC/QB coach is one and he’s kind of good. There are HOF players that can’t coach worth a crap.

Heck there are All Americans and a Mr Football who played at Highlands that agree with me 100% and echo the exact same things because I have personally talked to them in recent weeks.

That right there is a big difference they don't have elite talent anymore. Good talent but not elite. Just look at Covcath a great team with a few D1 talent players. Take those D1 talent players off the team and they are not a dominant team. Just a very good team who would be more capable of mistakes without that elite talent.

 

Highlands fans are seeing what other teams dealt with. Highlands has good players just not elite players currently. Which good players make more mistakes than elite players and can't overcome mistakes like elite players.

 

With all that said I do think highlands will be much better these next few years Because their current to be juniors and sophomores do have very good talent.

Serious question here. Do you honestly believe that all of the Highlands state championship teams had "elite" talent in the years that they won? If so, I guess I need the definition of "elite" talent. There have certainly been some Division 1 players come through the program, but I would certainly not say that there has "ever" been a steady stream of them. What has made Highlands a great football program over the years has been the dedication put forth by both the kids and the coaches. Most importantly, the kids wanted to be Highlands football players and were going to do everything needed to make that dream a reality. In today's society, I am not sure that this dedication to the game of football is as prevalent as it used to be just a few short years ago.

 

Can it change, yes it certainly can and I truly expect that it will.

If this is true then it doesn’t matter who the coaches are on the sideline. If the Jimmies and Joes of 2018 don’t care like the Jimmies and Joes of 2008 did and don’t share that same dedication then that is the answer to Highlands football underachieving more than anything else.

This is another great point. I had multiple people tell me this exact same thing privately and these same people are saying now that this next cycle of kids are strong classes. I have to believe that they know what they are talking about. I’d like to see BW get a chance with this next cycle but I am not sure if he will have that opportunity.

Maybe that's the problem. If true, why in the world would you change something so great? The one image that keeping sticking out to me is when HHS was playing St X of Ohio and they had that Huge O-lineman with the name James. He was huge. He was going against a kid that was half his size. The kid half his size was whooping his Butt. Lets get back to kids wanting it like that.

How can it fall on coaching if kids growing up in Ft. Thomas don’t want to play football for Highlands the way they used to? In JOAT’s post he said in today’s society kids aren’t as dedicated as they used to be to playing football and that seems to be the case everywhere. If Highlands football means more to dads than sons then that doesn’t fall on coaching.
