Drew Barker Transferring From UK

If I’m UC I’d pass on Barker and see if Burrow is taking calls in April.

Joey B is saying all the right things right now, but I personally don’t see him sticking around Columbus next year. I think UC would be a great fit.

Just saw his twitter post, classy post. No matter how it works out it's pretty nice getting your master's degree for free.

What makes you so sure?
Well, for one, he's not good enough to start for a mediocre Division 1 team.

2. I can see.

I think he is good enough to start for UK and would have been starting the past 2 years but he got Wally Pipped. I’m biased when it comes to Barker so maybe I’m just not seeing things the way I should be, but I still think he was the best QB on UK’s roster the past 2 years. If he was given the opportunity to get his feet under him I think he would have shown that. He’s a much more proficient passer than Johnson and while he doesn’t have the athletic ability of Johnson, I think the downfield passing game is something that has been missing from UK the past 2 years. I think he will be extremely successful anywhere he lands.

He was really bad when he played. All Johnson did was win. There was no comparison between the two.

Just to be totally honest, i don't care enough to really debate it. From the times I saw him play, he didn't look near good enough. Just my opinion.

I don’t think he got a fair shot. They should’ve just rolled with Johnson all the way to start the year. The way they tried to bring Barker along was stupid and was just an obvious attempt to try and prevent a transfer, but no one can get going under those circumstances. I’m not advocating that they should have rolled with Barker over Johnson because you’re right all Johnson did was win. I still think Barker is a better QB. Stephen Johnson is a poor mans JT Barrett. How are you supposed to sit the guy when all he does is win? Doesn’t mean I don’t think there were better players behind him.

Fair enough.

Barker was over-hyped from Day 1 and UK went after him because, well, he was the darling of the rodeo in the state.....

He was at least smart enough to get an education, and will likely have a nice graduate year somewhere.

IMO he was a low D1 prospect from the beginning

He was a low D1 prospect based on? A lot of D1 Schools seemed to think different.

He was lights out the first half against So. Miss. The second half the line couldn't block me and he ran for his life every snap. Same thing at Florida and the rest is history. I think if given snaps and time in the pocket he is a good QB. I hate to see him transfer and I know I'm in the minority but I think if he didn't get hurt UK wins more games the last 2 years than they did with Johnson. Everyone keeps saying Stephen just wins but I think Benny had a lot more to say about that than Johnson. Johnson has missed so many short and intermediate passes the last 2 years it's beyond frustrating. He got better this year but not much. Yes, he throws a nice deep ball but even a lot of those were under thrown and the receivers made adjustments to make the catch. IMO, the offense has been pretty limited because of Johnson's arm.

Based on he chose UK over all the other D1 schools that seemed to think different to start with.

Don't misinterpret, he could have played at a lot of schools, but he was his own best press man and had a really good understanding of the recruitment process, so there was a lot of visual self-promotion during the recruitment period.

He was never going to lead a D1 program, he demonstrated that early in his college career

Over-hyped, who knows he never got a chance to show his skills. He certainly wasn’t a low D1 prospect though.

Wherever he goes I hope he is on TV a lot and he is successful.

Agree to disagree.
