OlDog75 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Do you and your family have any Christmas\holiday traditions? Yes, I have one. It's trying each year to talk my wife out of spending so much on non immediate family members.
mcpapa Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Real tree Open one present on Christmas Eve The pets get stockings Watch "A Christmas Story" all day
75center Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Christmas eve day we have lunch at Pompillos, then take in several holiday activities followed by viewing various Christmas light displays, both residential and community. Once back home we make finger food and watch Christmas cartoons followed by opening one gift.
Nathaniel Bryan Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 We always go to Christmas in the Park (FREE drive-thru Christmas lights/displays) in Elizabethtown and do ICE! at Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville.
TAC Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Always do my side of the family the day before Christmas. Always have crab meat and pepperoni. Reminds me of mom and dad. Did move it up a day this year due to how the holidays were laid out. Spent a couple of hours with him and his twins before her side showed up. We host her side every 6 years. Fed 45 adults. The Mrs. is amazing. Made 90% of the food. Had it all prepped and ready to roll when they started rolling in.
sweet16 Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Yes, I have one. It's trying each year to talk my wife out of spending so much on non immediate family members. That one and trying not to kill my in laws.
Irish Cat Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Besides the normal Christmas traditions, on my dad's side of the family, most of my uncles and male cousins exchange bottles of Jack. Then they sit around and drink said bottles.
Jumper_Dad Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Christmas Eve we all go to candle light service at church then everyone comes to our house for a spread of chili, potato soup, sausage balls, dip, smokies, Christmas candy and hours of games. Christmas morning everyone back to the house for present time and a HUGE Christmas Breakfast...HUGE isn't a big enough word, it's incredible really. Tenderloin, Thick Cut Bacon, Country Ham Slices, Biscuits, Gravy and eggs made to order for everyone. (Pancakes and Oatmeal have also been made upon special request) My wife loves Christmas and works her hind end off to make sure everyone has a great time. I'm blessed to be surrounded by my family and having an AWESOME Wife!!!
gold sunrise Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Always spend Christmas with my side of the family at my Mom's in Morgan Co. I always take shrimp, country ham and biscuits, sausage balls and crab dip. We open gifts there and then when we get home we open our gifts to each other. For the first time tomorrow we are having all of my husbands family at our house , around 40 people. I am fixing a turkey, 2 turkey breasts, ham, dressing, gravy, cranberry salad, green beans and crab dip and husband is making his banana pudding. Family bringing in the rest.
Beechwoodfan Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Real tree at my insistence for 30 years, until the day after Thanksgiving 2010 whe my brave husband had a surprise beautiful artificial tree set up. Have been thankful ever since! Very silly, but...always had the kids sit at the top of the stairs while we were downstairs and I announced that Santa forgot to come. Then they raced downstairs. Oddly enough, when they were young adults still at home they still sat up on the stairs waiting for the same announcement. Now that they are grown and gone, I miss that the most.
