The Big 10 has been brought up. Sindelar seemed a decent comparison. I hope he does what makes him happy, though.

Not IMO, though they are listed as similar size in high school. I think AJ looks thicker and more physical. ES looked quicker with a much more compact throwing motion and seemed more accurate while not getting all day to throw the ball.

Very good point!! Talked to a guy who coached at the college level and has coached D1 quarterbacks and he said a quick release is what separates a lot of QB's. Asked him about AJ and he said great athlete but his release is why bigger schools haven't recruited him.

Been watching high school football since the 1980's, and the best two NKY qb's I have seen personally are Lorenzen and Tolles. AJ is in that discussion. He was better than Pike and Barker and that's not a shot at either of those kids. Just my opinion. And, don't get me started on Kam... most under-recruited kid out of NKY in a long time.

 

So the question is why? And I know in the age of the internet and Rivals and recruiting shows we think these colleges have some magic 8-ball that predicts which kids are Power 5, etc. They don't. It is still largely a copy-cat business.

 

The only red-flag (and I use that term as loosely is possible) on these two kids is that they never got offered by UC or UK. It's the only possible knock on them that I can think of. The fact that the two major football schools within an hour of Griffin Stadium who could see them play on a regular basis did not offer probably raised questions that should never have been raised. I truly believe if those two schools would have offered, the flood gates would have opened up for both kids. Miami is getting an absolute steal on these two.

Brent Grover from Highlands played in the Army All American game and had a good career at Purdue after being recruited very heavily. Kam Butler is as close of a player to him as you will find. I don’t get why he didn’t have more offers. He is a future DE at the college level with great athleticism and instincts. Unless his size is really marked up in the program, what I saw on Hudl all year doesn’t add up.
