What mythical titles does Corbin claim?

 

I think he’s referring to two titles awarded prior to the playoffs system began in 1959.

We got this...Belfry was in trouble after the Johnson Central game. Gave up 26 to both Nelson and Waggener had to be a red flag. Then they lose their best player on both sides of the ball and then the QB and possibly another key player? Take that from any team and see what happens...Other than the WV teams, Belfry played a fairly weak schedule, they were not the team they have been the past 4 years, they were a very good team though.

Central is a very good team, not as good as the margin of the Belfry game, but very good. They also have a first year head coach...Scroggins is gone...Greer’s defense will be prepared for anything. Haddix offense will have many new wrinkles they haven’t shown yet. This will be a good game but look for the hounds to leave Louisville with a win.

The keys for Corbin to win:

 

1. They cannot turn the ball over.

2. They need to put 2 good halves together, something they haven't really been able to do in some of these big games in the recent past.

3. Limit their penalties.

4. Make Central sustain long drives.

5. Keep playing aggressively on both sides of the ball if they build a lead.

Better add play great special teams.

I would think that playing Powell Co, Bell Co, Jackson Co, McCreary Central, and Knott Co would prepare Corbin for the speed Central has.

You're dead wrong and your obsessive hatred of Corbin is truly sad. I think playing defending Tennessee state champ Alcoa (and winning), Beechwood, and Mayfield have them aptly prepared for game speed. But whatever, harp on the district games, ya know...the ones Corbin doesn't voluntarily schedule nor control, and ignore the front end, which is objectively harder than any other team in SEKY. Makes sense.

Corbin fans are happy as well. It feels good to play in the semifinals. maybe you will make it some day.

 

The competition definitely gets stronger, but that's why Haddix scheduled teams like

Alcoa, Beechwood and Mayfield in the portion of the schedule he has control of.

 

Will never ever happen and he knows it.

Corbin's defense and discipline in the front 7 matches up well with Central's bread and butter on Offense.

 

Central's aggressive Defense, physicality, and speed matches up well with Corbin's bread and butter.

 

The key is going to be Corbin's back half of their D. Can they rise to the challenge of making plays or will they let Central's receivers make the plays? Additionally, when Central gets the edge can Corbin's back half make the open field tackles ?

 

On the flip side, Central's aggressiveness can make them vulnerable to big plays. Can Corbin dial up enough trick plays and misdirection to change the scoreboard? Can Corbin keep the game within reach so Sizemore can do what he does best in the 4th Quarter?

 

I think this one will be interesting. I am just not sure Corbin can manufacture enough rushing attack besides Sizemore.

Corbin fans want to throw up the win over Alcoa, and yes they only lost two games but like Corbin, their schedule was weak. They want to toss around the Mayfield win, but Mayfield is no way matches up with the likes of Central. Beechwood gave them a dose of their own medicine in that game.

 

But....

 

Corbin has a chance. Central will give it to them by lining up in zero coverage, pressing just daring Corbin to throw it or run it up the middle, between the tackles. If Corbin backs can get second level and pick up some yards and move the chains then they will give themselves a chance. As good as the Corbin Defense is advertised to be, they have not seen the type of speed they will see on Friday. Plus the backs for Central will be faster and stronger than any backs they have seen thus far.

 

The Hounds feelings are going to be hurt, and maybe that will be motivation to win the game but hurt feeling don't win games, so I gotta go with the Yellow Jackets this time around.

 

On the bright side there is always 4th Street Live......
