The problem with sexually based offenses is society tends to give too much credibility to accusations and the end result is guilty until proven innocent.

 

This is yet another issue where we have Corporations acting as a Quasi-Justice System when they either don't agree with the Justice System or the alleged victim doesn't want to pursue anything through the Criminal Justice System.

 

Additionally, anyone that falsely accuses another of a sexually based crime needs to go to prison for a long time.

Society gives a bigger benefit of the doubt to accused murderers than people accused of sexual assault or domestic violence. Without a doubt. It is a systematic problem.

Give them their due process rights, but its disingenuous to throw out the conspiracy that people are just trying to make money.

I'm not saying all conspiracy theories are false, I'm simply saying that when the rebuttal to every sound argument is a conspiracy theory its makes hit hard to advance the conversation in any meaningful way.

Fair point, although I'd almost guarantee there are more sexual crimes committed than there are Duke lacrosse cases.

Its not a conspiracy theory that things like that happen. Its true. Does it happen all the time, no. But in cases, yes it has happened.

Name a few cases where multiple people made claims about the same person like this and it turned out to all be false and part of some large conspiracy?

That's 1 person making claims. That happens all the time. That is not the same situation that you started this thread about. Not apples to apples.

It's also very telling what those around you say: Louis CK had peers running the other direction, Weinstein the same, and it seems Roy Moore is the same.

Your first paragraph is exactly why so many sexual assaults and sexual harrassment cases go unreported. Society DOESN'T tend to believe the victim. The victim has a motive. The victim brought it on themselves.

 

I agree with your last paragraph. Those people don't only do harm to the falsely accused, they make it harder for real victims to get believed.
