Anybody else miss Hal Mumme?

Featured Replies

We didn't play any defense, but we don't play any now. With receivers like Burton, (I can't think of the other guys name) and Little out of the backfield, just imagine. Now blast me.

If you're going to miss Mumme, you must also say you miss cheating, lack of integrity, disregard for common courtesy, and probation.

I've never been happier to see a coach leave as I was when Mumme left. Ask the fans at NM State what they think about Mumme. He led them to an impressive 0-12 record in his first season in the powerful WAC, and they currently sit at 2-3. That's 2-15 so far at NM State. Could be the worst hire in UK Athletic history.

No. Not once. Can't have the good of Hal without the bad, and I'm not willing to revisit that.

Don't just blame the head coach because it seems to me that the A.D. and the rest of watchdogs just turned the other way just like they did with Eddie Sutton.

I think Larry Ivey and CM were at fault as well, but that wasn't the thread. ;)

I miss the style of football that Hal Mumme plays / played, but that's about it.

:thumb: :thumb: Exactly, why would anyone miss Hal "B"umme? :fight:

That may very well be true but that does not take away from Bumme and his band of criminals actions while representing the University of Kentucky.

I guess I just miss getting beat 56-50 rather than 56-14. I know all the down-side he had. I do, however, think circumstances led to most of his off the field problems. He surrounded himself with some pretty shady characters and I think that was most of his downfall.

Circumstances? If you mean lack of ethics, we're on the same page. There can be no rationalizing Mumme's actions.

I miss his entertaining style of football. Made UK be more competitive in the games we were "supposed to lose" .. .. I think UK won several of those games... BUT, out with the cheating, UK does not need that and Im glad he is gone because his staff was part of the problem. Just imagine if UK had a defense and a defensive coordinator at the time?????? Really brought UK football into the modern era (offensively) yet the program has regressed to more conservative style, (brooks) as we see now.........

"Anyone else miss Hall Mumme..."

NO!.. I dont miss probation at all. We still haven't recovered from it.

Yes I do miss the style we play. When he was here it was atleast exciting to watch the games, I mean we had no defense then either but our offense was exciting. I like the chances he took (in the game) and just how he called the games. I am glad he is gone though because I dont like the cheating he brought to UK and how he got us on probation, but as far as on the field coaching I do miss it. Then even with Guy Morris we still had a pretty exciting offense he didn't change it much...Then when Brooks came here he tried to change the whole offense around and he made it impossible to watch the games, because not only was the defense bad but he made the offense not exciting as well....I know this year it seems like we are starting to get our offense going again, but we still have no defense, so I dont see why he changed it all around to begin with. So I do miss Mumme's style still but that is it though...
