Highlands 49 Madison Central 3

Featured Replies

I thought they played absolutley horrible.....They play like that against CovCath and they will get killed...VERY VERY SLOPPY!!!!!!!!! They better wake up.......:madman:

Really? What was so sloppy?

I doubt I get a response on this one. I've got to think if you win going away, you probably did some things pretty well. Sometimes the glass is half full.

No disrespect but I just didn't see the game this way.

On a side note, It was really nice to meet nWo. Hope you made it back safe, and thanks for the insight on the game.:thumb:

It really was nice meeting you also. I did indeed make it back safely.

I might be wrong but I think the youthfulness of Madison Central really showed in this game. It seemed to me that they were playing timidly and I credit a lot of that to Highlands. The Bluebirds came out aggresive and this put the Indians back on their heels.

It was a better game than the score indicated because Birdsfan and myself were together. :D

Sloppy, yes. Horrible, no. Interception, fumble, turnover on downs once or twice, TD called back on penalty, other penalties (ALL in the 1st HALF) qualify as sloppy. Defense lost intensity on the 1 drive where MC scored, but otherwise, played very well.

Also, what was up with the door to the locker room being locked so that MC spent the entire halftime in the endzone rather than locker room? It was oppened pretty quickly, but they stayed in the endzone. I guess they wanted to watch the homecoming festivities?

I'd be willing to say they smelled the Krispy Kreme donuts and were waiting for some! :D

Maybe I was a liitle bit hard on my Birds....It just irritates me when I know what they can do and they don't execute like they should.:irked:

I thought the passing game evolved somewhat last night. Two nice bombs to 16 and 84, and 22 was working the middle very well. The TOs have to be addressed. They will cost the Birds close ball games as we have already seen. Nice to see 68 back on the field. The running game as usual was very impressive. I do see some issues with pass D as it seems the corners are just too far off the recievers. Trinity JV comes a callin today. Go Birds!

Is that game here or away??

Who scored for Highlands?

Conner(3), Crothers,Draper, Kramer, Horner. According to Enquirer box score.

MC came out scared. Highlands hit them with that initial wave and they are down 20-0 before anyone blinks an eye. Maybe it was the atmosphere or the tradition of Highlands that intimidated them? I don't know but it seems like they come out flat/scared/with no heart no matter if they are playing Highlands, Whitley, Dunbar, or whoever. This team shows no emotion.

MC got out-played and out-coached last night. MC plays bad in the 1st and 3rd quarter of every game, thank god they are conditioned well for the 2nd and 4th quarters. MC has a lot of issues to take care of on both sides of the ball if they want to have a shot at winning at GRC and Lincoln.

On a side note, I watched Dale Mueller last night and it is no wonder Highlands is a top team in the state every year, the guy is a great coach.

I didn't say it was even. But, as was said above, Highlands made a lot of flubs that would have cost them the game against another team.

The paper was actually wrong, it was Oliver Head who scored the last touchdown.

What did the Birds Faithful think about the performance of the Conner kid tonight.. I thought he looked similar to one Justin Frisk at this same point in his high school career. If he turns out to be only half as good as him, he will be one heck of a ballplayer. Lookout the next few years, because this kid is the real deal in my opinion. He looks like the best true RB we have had in a while. By this I simply mean he looks to be a little larger and stronger than some of the backs we have had in recent years.

He's bigger than Kramer, not sure about the stronger part. And no where near as quick or elusive as Kramer. Not sure what your def. of a true RB is. I got a feeling if you asked any team that has played Highlands this year, including Elder, X and DeSales, they say Kramer is a true RB, and a pretty dang good one at that. Don't get me wrong, I like Conner and he runs the ball very well. Not ready to compare him to Frisk though. No where near as quick or shifty yet. But he's only a soph so he's got time to improve on those areas and I think he will. I like Kramer and Conner in the back field together. They complement each other well.
