I think the gap between Beechwood and the rest of 1A is wide. However, I also think the gap between Ludlow and the quartet of Paintsville, Hazard, Raceland, and KCD is also wide. Ludlow probably is the sixth best team in 1A - however, the margin here isn't a huge surprise.

Just as sure as I just finished a good night's sleep, Rash told those refs in the 4th qtr to drop a flag on any BW touchdown negating any more scores. He likes effort from his reserves (can't tell backups to play less than 100%; good way to get someone hurt); but, he respects the game and his opponents. First half was just an avalanche of BW doing everything right and Ludlow stepping on their own toes. Ludlow is much better than this.

For those banging their drum early in the season about being a top-10 1A team - THIS is what you aspire to be.

This was not expected. Not this wide a margin of domination.

 

- Beechwood averaged perhaps 3 plays per score for their first 7 touchdowns.

 

- Running clock with 10:13 to go in the second quarter with the score 42-0.

 

- Ludlow did not earn a first down in the first half (one first down by penalty).

 

This was total domination. Please no one knock Ludlow. They are a solid team. They came into the game undefeated. This score shows just how good Beechwood is.

I'm not knocking then at all, but there were plenty of us who very much expected this. We were just shot down for thinking so.

 

This game sounds almost identical to last seasons game.

Ludlow is a decent team but they just don't have the numbers to compete with Beechwood. No shame. Beechwood is probably a top 8 school in the state, regardless of class. Tough for any 1a school to compete with them. Just look at what Lloyd did to New Cath tonight, and new Cath beat Christian academy of Louisville this year, Beechwood beat Lloyd pretty good. Then see Beechwood beat Corbin, who beat mayfield. On top of that beechwood showed they were right there with a top 5 6a school in Simon Kenton. Beechwood is the real deal and it will be tough for a 1a school to stay in it with them. Good luck to Ludlow. They are well coached and play hard.

 

Ummm, no. Top 12-15 which is really good for a small school. They will cruise to the title.

Long night for Ludlow! I hope they come back strong and get ready for Bellevue!!!! I had a feeling the rough schedule Beechwood played would toughen them up for 1A play.

 

No doubt. I don't understand some adults acting the way they do. Why would Beechwood fans want nothing other than for District competition to get better. Heard some disappointing comments last night. I also heard a great deal of negativity coming from the Ludlow fans towards players and coaches.

Even more so, the 2011 game where Beechwood lost QB Davis in the Mayfield game.

 

And, the next week Mayfield's Jackson played through an injury but was clearly not himself and they got thumped by a Hazard team Mayfield was heavily favored to beat.

What "stepping on their own toes" did they do? All I saw was a Good Team that wasn't used to playing a team with 11 tremendous athletes on both sides of the ball. Beechwood's entire line backing crew is faster than all but 1 player on Ludlow's offense. They are small, but hit extremely hard. That's hard to play against. The second half was a bit different, with some penalties balls being snapped over QBs head, but it had been a long night.

 

I haven't seen all games, but this is the most I have been impressed by Beechwood since Corbin game. They were 99.9% sharp. There were 4 and 5 guys flying to the ball the entire game. Ludlow had less than 40 yards in the first half. That's on the Beechwood D, not the Ludlow Offense.

I was totally surprised. I didn't think there would be a running clock until late 2nd half if at all. I knew BW would wear them down. The only teams that Beechwood can't outlast are the ones that don't play 9-10 guys both ways. I thought we could possibly see a big margin, but I did not see a shutout happening and certainly didn't see 60pt one. I just didn't think the Tigers would come out and punch the panthers in the mouth from the first whistle to the last.

 

This is one of the most-talented BW teams in recent history and I still say its the fastest that I can remember. I see no one in Class A beating them unless they beat themselves with penalties or arrogance and lazy play.

Expected a wide margin win and even a running clock, yes. Expected a running clock with 10 minutes left in the second quarter and no first downs for Ludlow in the first half? I doubt anyone expected that.

Obviously you have to play the games. I was pointing out the Beechies have been heavy favorites all year. Don't think a win over Ludlow serves notice to the rest of Class A in any way.
