That was my first thought, too, when I saw this on television earlier. There is no reason for one running back to score 10 touchdowns.

Good thing it didn't happen in Connecticut.

Yogi Kinder is not concerned with having class, because he has absolutely no concept of what the word means. On the football field and off, he is morally and ethically bankrupt. Running up the score in a football game is a minor thing compared to the depth of Mr. Kinder's other displays of his lack of character.

 

It is a shame the BOE and Matewan administration has continued to let him be in a position of leadership in their schools and sports programs. I would never let a son of mine play for any team that he is coaching and I wouldn't let a daughter even attend a school he was located in.

This reminds of the coach in the mid to late 1990's who had JR House, the QB who broke many of Couch's national passing records. He had the same modis operandi. He even publicly stated that if he could beat a team 100-0 and help House break the records in doing so, he would do it. He did that all season. However, the good news was that he had around 21 seniors starting on that team and the next few seasons, there were quite a few payback games. At least when Couch was at Leslie County, there were several games where he threw very few, if any passes, in the 2nd half when the Eagles had big leads. At least their coaches understood that it is not just about records, but about showing a little class and sportsmanship and sending that message to their players. This coach obviously doesn't understand what those words mean.

I'm Sure in 2001 or 2002 when Russell played Bath County. Josh Gross could have had 800 yards Rushing and scored 15 plus TD's but he was pulled midway through the second quarter. He was vertually scoring each time he touched the ball.

Your exactly right, Matewan's coach is a loser no matter what his record shows. Tim and Brian both could've thrown for way more yards, but there is a much bigger picture.

The way I look at is is that the opposing coach needs to teach his kids how to shed blocks and tackle.

The biggest surprise to me is that the RB mentioned didn't make the decision he needed a "better education" and come across the river and play you know where...

Yogi is a reprobate and it runs much deeper than anything as trivial as football. I won't go any further than that. What a terrible example he sets for the students of the schools he has contact with.

 

If I am not mistaken, he coaches at Matewan but teaches at Burch (the team they beat). At least that was his situation a few years ago, but he may have been allowed to move back to teaching at Matewan by now.

Matewan is probably ticked at having to forfeit their first three games for using the ineligible transfer from Belfry.

 

I don't know how the WVSSAC handles transfers or eligibility but on a personal level, that kid has had a rough time and deserves a break.

 

His mother was a federal drug informant and lost her life last year, April 2005. Now he lives in Matewan with family there and attends Matewan high school. As I understand it, he had repeated the 9th grade at Belfry and thus had already been in high school 4 years before this year, his senior year. I would like to see him do well. I assume his ineligibility is a result of Matewan not following proper appeal procedures. Thus even after finding him eligible from this point forward, he wasn't eligible for the first few games he played in.

Shawn Grimm was on pace friday night in the apple bowl to rush for 700 yards and 20 td's. But Coach Matney pulled his starters early... even though the score doesnt show it.

 

If a game is close and both teams are evenly matched and somebody rushes for that many yards, that is amazing. Otherwise, it is only good for discussion on bluegrasspreps.com
