Wow I'm soooooooo glad we played this game in week 2. Imagine the excuses week 9 or 10 about how if we still had this Player & that Player. Because you do know that's what it Boils down to....Right?

That is fans making excuses. I don't think the Campbell Co Camels football team makes excuses. The culture there has changed. That team looked great last night and were classy in defeat although having a victory torn from their hands in the very end. I think Steve Lickert has done a great job over the past 5 years, perfect guy to take that team in a great direction. Is it just me or does that camel offense look like the 96 birds offense?

 

Also I think no 7 is the only player for the camels going both ways. They gotta put that no 4 on def. Guy looks like a college football player out there. I think he's one of the Kramers that played in Ft Thomas jr fb league?

Various Highlands receivers had some pivotal catches in the short passing game. Huber led with 6 for 56 yards, that kid goes both ways and is a big leader on that team.

I liked what Wogan said about Carl being a smart QB. You could see it. The only pick he had was almost a punt on 3rd and long, he just threw up cause he knew the situation. He went through his reads calmly and put together some nice drives. There was one Eli Manning play were he shuffled around and and stepped up and around in the pocket with his eyes still down field. I believe he will really blossom this season as he gains confidence.

Granted it is a bunch of high schoolers, but when you are 53-9 against a team, that doesn't seem to warrant field rushing. Again, I am happy for the win, but expectations are high in Ft. Thomas.

I was not able to attend the game last night. Sounds like both teams left it all on the field. I'm sure the Birds learned a lot from this game, and will be looking to improve.

Yes I will be rooting for the Camels for the rest of the season. If they stay healthy they could shake things up in NKY 6A.

That was part of the reason of my original post, Highlands has now fallen to the point of rushing the field for Campbell County.

 

The reason the students weren't involved because those years the games were not competitive in a good way. I would rather see wins by those healthy margins, AND student involvement. They are not mutually exclusive.

Fumble in the first half was a game changer. If Camels would have went up 21-0 I think it would have ended it early. The pick 6 was also a game changer. Camels were the better team, but Highlands fought until the end and got the W. It was a great game, but on to next week.

I was there and my take:

 

Nice comeback win for HHS. It looked bleak at first. I was very disappointed in the play calling most of the game by HHS as they kept trying to establish the run when it was not working and the passing game was. IMO, HHS should use the pass to establish the run and not vice versa. Regarding the officials, I was sitting RIGHT IN FRONT of both the plays that the fans are talking about. I am 90% sure the CC punt returner touched the punt that the ref said he did not. I would love to ask the kid and hear his honest answer. I about lost my mind on the block in the back call on the interception return because it clearly was NOT a block in the back AND it had no bearing on the play. Just a terrible call and I am glad the refs overturned after discussing it. I thought the CC play calling in the OT was awful. They ran the ball on 3rd and 9?

 

Anyway it turned out to be a very enjoyable game to watch. I think CC was probably the better team but 3 turnovers means you lose most games. HHS had 1 but it really was not a turnover IMO because it was on 3rd and long and was more like a punt on 3rd down than on 4th down.

Seriously, complaining about students rushing the field to congratulate their team? Man, hard core in the Fort Thomas. Glad to hear the students support their team, maybe the adults will now.
