I had heard how good Dowd was and he is a really nice player. However, IMO, the blue collar worker on that offense is Grant Jolly. He is fun to watch. He's everywhere and runs hard!

 

I thought there were some questionable offensive calls on both sides. Maybe it's just early and not ready to turn it all loose, but I sure had to scratch my head a few times tonight.

Why not mention the obvious fumble of the punt by the CC deep man, that did not get called a fumble by the back judge? That was a terrible call.

If its me and you have the ball with 90 seconds left in the half you take a couple deep shots to Vennaman to at least stretch the field. The INT was like a punt when they finally went long as it was nowhere near the receiver.

Thats called a tackle. A turnover is when you fumble or throw the ball to the other team. By the way, #8 is okay, he will be fine.

Yep and the Definition of a Block in the Back is what it Describes. Since the Campbell player wasn't Blocked in the Back, I'm thinking the Flag was dropped for the New Crack back Block rule. Wasn't much of a Crack back is to why I'm thinking the Flag was picked up. The HHS kid could of decleated the Campbell player if he wanted to.

I have to tip my hat to the Camels. They're a good looking team, plus classy fans, talked to some in the stands. The Camels really had this one in their hands a number of times. They just didn't finish it. Holy moly Camels are big, their QB is a monster they need to run with him more. Dowds probably averaged 12 yrds a pop and is very tough to bring down. Lines were large and dominant. Camels look like a legit 6A football team. They really seemed in a gaze in overtime though , like what just happened?

 

My Birds really hung in there. They really showed some metal in the 4th quarter and OT. Carl looked great in the pocket. I would have tossed a few more deep to Venneman throughout the game but otherwise thought Deatons play calling was pretty good. Figured out between the tackles was too thick and established an outside game that was effective. Made a number of fourth and whatever's work out. The defense hung in there too. I saw some poor tackling in the first half but I will attribute that to Dowds' running abilities. Pick six was unbelievable, couldn't believe they'd put the ball in the air but hey I guess the down and distance called for it and it had worked all day. Highlands DBs were giving a generous cushion all day and just saw the same thing coming and pounced on it. Overtime was one of the the only times of the Game where Highlands truly looked like the better team. But a wins a win and they showed serious grit on that last defensive stand. They wanted it more.
