August 19, 20179 yr Nashville is preparing to site drivers who pull over in the emergency lane to view the eclipse. They won't have enough cops, lol. Dear lord, Nashville traffic is already bad enough.
August 19, 20179 yr Boone Co did an all-call and told parents about the danger, that no one will be allowed outside unsupervised during school. No recess for the little ones. And parents needed to provide glasses for the students or they would not participate in any activities involving viewing the eclipse. Also, kids wont be placed on buses before 4 pm so parents could pick them up earlier if they so choose. Football practice not until after 4 pm.

I guess they figure the sun at 4 pm will be less interesting than one earlier during the full eclipse. But yeah, doesn't make a lot of sense.
August 19, 20179 yr Was there a partial one to hit NoKy in about 1999 or 2000? Reason I ask is I recall us using my uncle's welding helmet (he's a boilermaker by trade) as well as some other contraptions we used for reflecting it on a box or some such. This was not at the house I grew up in, but at the place just down the street where my folks live now. I do recall viewing the same way in '79 and '84. We were supposed to be getting a mess of glasses in for this purpose at our office, but I found out yesterday that the glasses won't be arriving until Tuesday (doh!). But that's not necessarily surprising as I'm sure the companies that make these things have been working around the clock for months.

August 20, 20179 yr Actual questions/comments people have made: 1) School starts on Monday. Can we move the eclipse activities to Tuesday? 2) How dud Kentucky get chosen to be part of the eclipse? 3) Please make sure to keep your pets inside, as they don't have glasses to wear and will damage their eyesight. Keep cows, horses, etc., in a barn with the doors closed. Another one that I saw was; People are working or in school on Monday, can the eclipse be moved to the weekend so more people can enjoy it?

August 20, 20179 yr Another one that I saw was; People are working or in school on Monday, can the eclipse be moved to the weekend so more people can enjoy it? That would make sense! We should have moved it up to today!
