I had this kid in scouts. I am not going to discuss matters publicly, but if law enforcement would like to contact me, I am providing permission for my information to be released.

I hate to hear this, if for no other reason than the guilt-by-association factor.

Hopefully, this will call attention to mental illness that is relatively untreated. Boone County Special Ed is going to have a busy week. Prayers to all involved.

What I am hearing was he was very quiet and kept to himself while at Cooper. A young man who wrote a short article last night about him and what he remembered about him while going to school with him at Cooper said he never remembered him ever having any friends and kept to himself a lot. I never heard of him before. I also read today he joined the Army after graduation yet was out of the Army not soon after. Don't know the reason.

It's very sad and I pray for all those injured and for the family of the woman who lost her life in this senseless act.

I read that he bought the car in Florence but didn't realize he went to Cooper.

I wasn't aware that bigotry was a mental illness, although that would explain a lot.

There is now way to blame this on a school.. I have read nothing that he was mentally ill. He was radicalized by white supremacists.

It's domestic terrorism. Not sure how it could be viewed otherwise.

This is nothing outside of what we're used to seeing. When it's a black/brown person committing these acts (riots, driving into crowds of people) they are terrorists and an entire religion of people should be held responsible, but when it's a white guy they are mentally ill. Reason eleventy billion this isn't getting better any time soon.

This guy is a far off relative of a friend of mine. He has never met the guy and there last time he saw the guy's mom was 11 years before this guy was born. My friend has been bombarded with media and strangers contacting him. It's been quite an ordeal that he wants stopped. It's crazy how he was tracked down like that.

Mental illness or not, prison time for this act. My belief on that is mental illness never gets you a lesser sentence. It can be used to determine how the criminal is treated and sentenced, but it does not lessen the punishment. If there is no mental illness and the punishment is life, then the same is true for the mentally ill person. Now, the mentally ill person might spend the first 5 years of the sentence getting treated in a mental institution, but once they are out of treatment, off to prison for the rest of the sentence.

Nope. Acts like this, where there's no question who did it, and why, deserve the death penalty.
