Glad to see Owens finishing his education, whether he gets to play ball or not.

He definetly has the ability to play ball somewhere, hopefully he can work it out.

I would think he could graduate after just one semester...

Antonio Owens sold me a new Ford 250 in Lexington the other day. Terrible gas mileage. He was an older gentleman though.

Maybe Tubby should recruit him and then he'll get an offer from Florida?????

Just a thought.

Maybe Tiny can tell what's going on with him.

Here it is.Owens was told by the prep school not to finish his senior year so he could have another year to play. The school shut down do to lack of funding,Owens went back to school to finish, not to play basketball,His plans are to finish and attend Morehead State and play basketball.:thumb:

Owens definitely got some bad advice. Correct me if im wrong but cant you get a 5th year of playing at a prep school. It just looks really bad to have two studs from the Home come and play ball then disappear after the season is over without graduating. Maybe the people at the home should re-evaluate Boyd County getting the good athletes and send them to another school in the area.

FYI, you should know these kids situations and how the system works before you go popping off at the mouth. Parents in the county open their homes up to these kids and welcome them as part of their family. I don't see anyone from your school doing this or they would be going there. This is such a lame statement from you that I shouldn't even respond, but as someone who does take these kids in, it infuriates me when people are so ignorant of the whole situation.:fire:

Interesting that he withdrew from Boyd County as soon as the basketball season was over. Once again the arrangement with the Ramey Home is a joke.

If it is such a joke, why don't you take foster kids and see how well it goes for you. Plus, how is it a joke to try and show a kid that there is a better way of life that what they have been brought up in, and try to help these boys develop into young men. But I guess that is too much to ask of people that are holier than thou.

Good for him. Education is huge.

Ok now...being from Boyd I will defend some of the opening your homes...That I commend you of...but this statement is truly unexceptable. Dont bring your judgement upon a religious school, just because of someones comments.

Like I said earlier, I commend those that help the kids out, but who are they doing it for the kid or themselves?? I am not being a judgement on this, because I know none of the the foster parents, but some of the players have went astray, but that also could not have been of any fault but the kid...Who knows....Still nice of the parents to open their houses...

Do all of the kids at the Ramey Home end up in foster care? Of course not.

This is not an indictment of foster homes or foster parents. I know they do care about the kids they take in and I admire them. But the practice of cherry picking athletes from the Ramey Home is a joke.

First of all I do respect anyone who opens there home to a young person to show them a bette way of living. We have to many people in foster care that just do it for the money. Second Im sure we would take a foster kid in if we could some how break the strangle hold of BC on all the good players at the home.

I guess foster care only lasts until after bball season if over. If a kid plays baseball does he get to stay a whole year?

By the way, in my time around Owens I found him to be a very friendly young man and I do wish him the best. I am very remiss for not mentioning that earlier.

Doesn't change my opinion that Boyd County takes advantage of the situation.
