RedBlood is corrct in much of what he has posted. These "transfers" hurt Boyd County's overall program far more than they help it. Ramey-Estep has its own very well funded high school (others should be so well funded by the taxpayers). Individuals at that facility should attend school at that facility with no exceptions.

 

Redblood is also correct in regard to local scheduling. For example, I understand that Ashland's girls "filled" their schedule before scheduling Rose Hill. Does anyone think that this was unintentional? Such dodging doesn't help the "tradition".

 

Leave it up to Scooterbob to get a few quick jabs in dealing with girl's basketball on a thread dealing with what happened to Antonio Owens!

I don't think you can blame Pratt, has Owens ever played on a championship team? Did he win any of the all star games he played in ? Owens is a tremendous talent but he has never been shown how to be a teammate.

Pratt is a good coach, but he didnt hold Owens accountable. That is the only thing he is guilty of. Boyd County will go farther this year than they did last year is my guess.

I realize that Ashland has a good athlete that is in foster care. I don't believe he came from the Ramey Home.

 

You are correct and i am sure they will welcome him with open arms.

 

What alot of people don't realize is that Ramey is part of the BC school system, and when kids go into foster care they are encouraged to play sports by their social workers.

:thumb: you nailed it there RB. Pratt is a great man and knows alot about bball, but when it comes to a star player it seems he doesn't know how to handle them. He will probably do better this season as a coach because he doesn't have to worry about a star player because he doesn't have one. The Lions will have to function as a team this season and do have the potential to be a decent team this season.

He is not as good an athlete as Bill Walker or Marques Dawson, and I would much rather have an Arless Beach, Vanhoose, Mcdavid or several other players on my team if I was going to play the upcomng season. I have this sinking feeling that Owens will never play beyond the juco level.

Supposedly Morehead is where he will attend and play after he graduates from Scott Co. He will be joining his sister there who has signed to play for the girls team.

Owens is a tremendous basketball player. His problem wasn't that he took away from his teammates. His problem was that he was so far above his team talent-wise, that they couldn't keep up with his speed. Then, jealousy set in, which led to problems, which led to an early exit from postseason play. On the court, he is the best basketball player I've seen in this region in several years.

Speaking of Marques, is he in school anywhere right now? I remember hearing about him going to a Juco I think? I always thought he had the potential to play high-major D1 ball if he spent a year or two at a Juco.

Head to head means nothing. Sure, in one on one games he could probably take both of them, but as far as a team game goes I'll take Hoose or McDavid no questions asked.
