Cancun - All Inclusive Resort Recommendation?

Featured Replies

Next year will be me and my wife's 15 year anniversary and we are thinking about going to Cancun. We'd like to do an all inclusive if we can find a good deal at a nice one. Any recommendations for us to check out?

@woodsrider

My wife and I stayed at the RIU Palace Peninsula in January and really enjoyed it.

The Finest Playa Mujeres

Do yourself a huge favor and stay in the Riviera Maya/Playa Del Carmen area.

Playa Del Carmen is 20 to 30 minutes away from Cancun but the beaches are so much nicer in that area.

I've done Mexico 5 times. Once to Cancun and the others to the Riviera Maya area. To be honest, I just wasn't impressed with Cancun.

RIU Palace Riviera Maya is a great resort I've stayed at a few times. The Royal on 5th Avenue is also very very nice.

have to agree with the Playa Del Carma area.

Going to a wedding at the Excellence Riviera Cancun in Oct. Looks like a nice one.

A friend of mine stayed there a couple years ago and loved it.

My wife and I honeymooned at the Moon Palace a little south of the strip in Cancun. It was really nice, but that was almost 16 years ago now. The resort was huge, you really didn't need to leave it, but they had a free bus service that would take you to their other properties on the strip several times a day. You could also eat and drink free at those properties as well. Since then I know they have added a third section which includes a Jack Nicholas designed golf course, if your into that.

The rooms were nice had a in room jacuzzi and balcony with hammock. The pools were so big you really can't describe them. Swim up bars, plentiful drinks and good food.

I haven't been to any other all inclusive resorts, so I can't compare it to any others but it was really nice when we where there.

Another hand raised for the Playa Del Carmen area. We stayed at the Grand Riviera Princess. Loved it. Swim up bars!!!!

Price and days etc for all inclusive?

It varies depending on time of year, resort and location.

We've always paid around 1400 a person for 7 nights in Mexico during the summer and fall.

You can go cheaper or more expensive than that depending on where you want to stay.

Never been to Cancun, how close is this to the airport? is there shuttle service?

I think Playa Del Carmen is 20 to 30 minutes from the Cancun Airport. It's been a few years since I've been so you may want to verify that if you plan on going.

The Riviera Maya is a huge area, think of it as a county and Playa del Carmen as a city in the county. Parts of the Riviera Maya could be an hour or more away from Cancun.

We've always booked our transportation from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel back to the airport by a shuttle bus. I'm sure you could get a cab though.

IMO -- hop the cheap ferry to Isla Mujeres or my preference Cozumel . Both are soooo much more of a vacation than busy , hurried , crowded ( unsafe) Cancun. -- By unsafe I mean its more likely something goes wrong there as opposed to the other two .

Kind of knowing you, I say go to Costa Rica. I have a cool place to go and you can do some cool things.

If you want pomp and pizzaz go the Riviera Maya route. If you want a little more adventure, go even further south toward Tulum. Find a reputable company to take you to swim in the Cenotes, especially the ones you have to scuba into. Xel Ha us a cool natural water park about 20 minutes south of Playa. Day trip in Playa on avenida 5. Old part of town with great shops and bars. That is if you want to leave the resort.
