IMO -- hop the cheap ferry to Isla Mujeres or my preference Cozumel . Both are soooo much more of a vacation than busy , hurried , crowded ( unsafe) Cancun. -- By unsafe I mean its more likely something goes wrong there as opposed to the other two .

 

Isla mujeres is a nice spot to visit
