Yeah, I don't agree but I'm admittedly biased. Beatty has sustained a level of excellence pretty much unmatched in KY football. 12 championships in 17 years, 12-2 in Championship games. 218-40 overall record (84.5%) against stronger schedules then anyone else in the state has played.

Chuck Smith in 16 total years at Boyle.

6 Straight State Football Championship appearances (1999-2004)

Yea I was looking at the info and noticed that I was looking at one of Coach French's year. My bad.

This brings up an interesting point in regards to Haywood's record.

 

Haywood's tenure at Pburg as well as his earlier years at Belfry were during the time when only one team from each District made the playoffs and there were only 2 round prior to the State Finals.

 

Back in those days not only did a playoff win seemingly mean more, but even getting to the playoffs would be the equivalent to reaching the Regional Finals in today's times.

 

Haywood's 84 playoff wins most likely leads the State, but with the current playoff structure offering more games and more winnable games this will be a record that will be sure to fall once he finally retires.

 

I would have to think that if the older playoff system matched what we have today Haywood would most likely be nearing the 95 win mark and his win percentage would see a noticeable tick of 3 or 4 percentage points.

Not sure of his play off percentage, know of at least 7 semi appearances and two final appearances while at Hopkinsville.
