August 3, 20179 yr I can understand this. Growing up we had a dachshund. She was terrible with kids, and would run after them if they were moving quickly. My daughter has a Yorkie puppy, and we have seen him try to run after children, so we watch that as well. In these cases, as with your situation with your pup, we are stronger than the dog and can step in and restrain. How many pit bull owners are not able to restrain their dog if said dog goes into attack mode? To answer your question, "some." Certainly not all. Same for owners of goldens. "Some."

I have friends who raise them right and they act right. I have been around others where I won't get within 6 feet of them and will make sure I have something sharp in my hand in case it gets froggy, mostly because I know the owners are rockheads. I'm a big guy, and I get along with dogs. I'm strong enough to handle them, but I've never been attacked so I can only speculate as to whether I would be cool enough in that situation to protect myself and others around me and also immobilize the dog. I still have a good 100+ pounds on any pit bull and I know how to use that mass. I have had guns pointed at me more than once in dicey situations, and I handle stress well. That said, pit bulls are incredibly strong. Even the friendly, good-tempered ones. They can cause harm to small children by accident. I really don't feel good about them being around kids in any situation.

Here is my questions for ALL dog owners: 1. Are you physically able to restrain your dog from attacking a child, an elderly person, another pet, or anyone else---if/when it goes into vicious attack mode? 2. Are you physically able to pull your dog(s) off of a child, an elderly person, another pet, or anyone else, thus preventing severe injury and death---if/when if goes into vicious attack mode?
