However, the truth remains there is an instinctive switch that can be flipped in this breed and in turn these dogs do go into attack mode resulting in devastation when conditions provide. Minor to massive injury to death of other animals and humans. I applaud all of the pit bull owners who lovingly raise theirs and keep them within boundaries to not harm others, and not expose them to the conditions to enable "attack mode!" Great job and well done! :thumb: In the meantime.....uuuuuughhhhhhh!!!!

A 70-year-old woman is babysitting her toddler grandchild, is present with the child and has not left the child unattended. 3. The pit bulls decide to attack the toddler. 4. The 70-year-old is overpowered by her pit bull "pets" and is unable to prevent the attack on her grandson. Tragedy. And so messed up.

I do not doubt that it has happened with other breeds. What is so troubling with pit bulls is when people are present and doing all they can in their power and are unable to stop the attack and prevent the death.

What is troubling to me is when a whole breed is maligned. Pit bulls and pit bull mixes vary greatly. Not all are potential killers.

It is my sincere hope all of the pit bull supporters continue to have a good, loving experience with their dogs minus any injury as i do with all other breed owners! :walk:

You said that you had not heard of a golden killing someone. Now you have. Education is good. My golden/sheltie mix is absolutely the love of my life, but she is aggressive with children. It is probably the herder in her and most likely she would never actually hurt a kid. However, she is never going to be in a scenario where that could happen. I don't let her around kids, with the exception of one of my 7 year old nieces, while she is directly supervised by me. My job is to protect both my dog and the people she comes in contact with.

My job is to protect both my dog and the people she comes in contact with. I can understand this. Growing up we had a dachshund. She was terrible with kids, and would run after them if they were moving quickly. My daughter has a Yorkie puppy, and we have seen him try to run after children, so we watch that as well. In these cases, as with your situation with your pup, we are stronger than the dog and can step in and restrain. How many pit bull owners are not able to restrain their dog if said dog goes into attack mode?
