Pit Bulls Killed 3-week old infant in Michigan

Featured Replies

I will never be convinced that pit bulls make good pets. Not. Ever.

"A family dog attacked and killed a 3-week-old child in a home on Kalamazoo Avenue around 6 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017.Preliminary investigation indicates the child was left home alone with three dogs. An adult found the child with a severe head injury and one of the dogs had blood around its mouth."

And these parents should have all children taken away from them. You don't leave a 3-week-old alone. Not ever. No excuses.

These parents are morons!!!!

Hope they put them down along with the dog.

Yeah, this is the dog's fault...

A combination of both.

Not only are the parents stupid for leaving their kid, they are more stupid for having a pit bull around kids.

It is a calamity of errors, but you must admit it happens with pit bulls a lot more than with other dog breeds.

I think the dog is an ugly breed. I really don't see why people even want that dog.

Been around a lot more aggressive dogs that weren't pit bulls than were. So based on my personal experience, the breed gets a bad wrap because of irresponsible people.

Preliminary investigation indicates the child was left home alone with three dogs.......WOW!!

That's seems to be a bit misleading in the report. The adults were on the porch according to a report that I read and the baby was inside asleep in a bouncy seat.

The irresponsible part is more leaving a 3 month old baby alone with a bunch of dogs, regardless of their breed. Even small dogs are know to attack babies that are left alone.

People should never trust ANY dog around very young children alone.

Anyone that is blaming the dogs is completely off base. This is 100% on the parents.

I had a very protective German Shepherd for 8 years before my first child was born. She was never crazy about the kids but I never once worried about walking out of the room and leaving them alone with her. In hindsight, that might have been wrong, but I felt that I knew my dog well enough and I was right in the long run.

I don't know much about pit bulls, but I can't imagine those parents thought for a moment that this would happen. Tragically, they misjudged their animal.

I don't know how long the child was alone in that room. I do know that every parent has walked out of a room, leaving their children alone at some point, particularly if they are in a crib, pumpkin seat, or some otherwise considered "safe" place. Most parents have had close calls when it comes to their children. I know I have.

Maybe they were negligent, or maybe not. I would not be so quick to judge.

???Because it's normal for a domesticated, house trained pet to maul a baby?

I've responded to a lot of dog bites/attacks/aggressive dog calls. The overwhelming majority are pits or pit mixes.

I fear 2 kinds of dogs, pits and chows.
