Thats is a fair point, they do have several exhibit areas that will change at times. I can tell you that the ARK is not 100% completed, from things I have seen its not 50% completed to be honest. Remember the ARK is more than just the ARK. They have other things there as well. They are adding the Theater that is supposed to be up and going next summer. They have a zoo at the ARK, of which they have expansion plans for the next 5 years on, and can do more after that.

 

I think what many dont realize is that the property the ARK is on, is way bigger than just where the ARK is, so there is plenty of room to grow and add things.

I follow you, think of it like Kings Island to a point, one new thing every year or two.

 

Example right now you can go see the ARK from the outside for free admission (you do have to pay $10.00) and see the lights and stuff on the outside, the zoo, and gift shop and eaterys.

Believe Sugar Daddy’s quit having donuts several months ago.

 

Wife informed me its no longer Sugar Daddy"s and called something else now.

That's what I've always thought. Nothing around it and I just can't see it as a destination visit more than once. They can add attractions on to it but I just never saw it as more than a one time draw for most people. Of course I was wrong about the Creation Museum.

Its funny you say this. I actually was in Dry Ridge this morning (had to drop the dog off at Grandma's) and I was sitting at the light, looking at the new McDonald's, Wendy's, other restaurants, 2 Speedway gas stations, other gas stations and the like, I just laughed. Look what is at the Williamstown exit where the ARK is over 18 months later since it opened. Nothing new, an old truck stop, a Mexican place up on the hill, all where there before, you pull of the exit and see nothing.

 

The ARK wont fail because of the ARK, the ARK has a plan, it realizes the local government isnt going to help with development around it, so its doing its own. ARK will have a theater, restaurants, the Zoo, the ARK itself, Ziplining, and other recreation activities, heck the ARK even has plans and permits to build a hotel on ARK property if they want. The failure of the ARK will be because those in charge of the city and the county have sat on their hands because they are afraid to do anything. At least Mayor Wells in Dry Ridge is trying to do something (bringing in new hotels and new development for other things in the future.)

 

The ARK is planning on adding over 300 new jobs next year, what is the rest of the county adding?

Over 10,000 visitors today at the ARK. Sure would have been great if they had some places to spend more of their funds while they visited. Oh well.

 

I don't guess that the Ark's clientele is much interested in the Bourbon Trail. Probably not much for tobacco either. Perhaps placing a bet at Turfway or Keeneland? No, I don't suppose. I guess you are right @plantmanky.

Here in lies part of the problem with the Ark. It’s not that it’s evangelicals that make up the crowd that is going to the Ark. Its the evangelicals that don’t like to have any fun that are attending. :lol2:
