The other thread about who could do the various tasks against pro athletes (and many responses) got me thinking we must have some high level college athletes on this board....So were you a college athlete? If so, what sport and what school?

Yes. UK FB

Internationally as well.

Committed to West point for football de-committed then officially wimped out and just went to school and enjoyed myself.

Played D3 football at Thomas More for a year and a half. Tore my rotator cuff in my shoulder and gave it up, would have missed all of my sophomore and junior season for recovery. It was awful. I remember sitting down at the coaches desk and telling him I was quitting. Hardest thing I ever did at the time, I am not a quitter.

Okay, let's hear it....

Played D1 baseball.

As a non college athlete I wouldn't call what you did wimping out at all. I wish I could have had an opportunity to wimp out. Nothing wrong with wanting to enjoy yourself. College athletics is extremely demanding. I have a ton of respect for you and the decision you made for yourself. Definitely not wimping out in my book.

I stole the ball from Wayne Turner in a pickup game at Seaton Center. That is the highlight of my athletic career.

Yes. Played baseball at NKU back in the DII days.

Well, that was my plan. Was going to attempt to walk on the basketball team at Murray State my first year there after spending 4 years in the military. Unfortunately I suffered a pretty painful back injury when I first got there (while playing basketball of all things) that greatly limited me for about 2 years so that plan went out the window. Would I have made the team had I stayed healthy and been able to try to walk on? No guarantees, but having seen the guys that did walk on while I was there, I'm 100% convinced that I would have been able to. There are worse things to have on your team than a 6'5, 250 pound (at the time) power forward who is strong, can rebound and shoot. I also played against a lot of the scholarship players through the years in open gym/pick up. More than held my own quite a bit of the time.

I played intramural basketball, flag football, volleyball, dodgeball. Does that count? :lol2:

Maaaannn, my intramural basketball and flag football teams were the most fun by far I have ever had playing sports. Great mixture of former high school athletes in a no holds barred atmosphere with beer before and after games? Sonnnnn, take me back to college now!!!!

I don't have an option in the poll. I didn't play college sports, but I can't vote "Not a chance" because I had chances and chose not to play soccer.
