Medical files first of all are private. But even they don't reveal what a person does on their own personal time.

 

How many people contracted HIV/AIDS from transfusion? Hepatitis C the same way? How do we know? Because they said so.

 

What keeps a patient from saying it was something like that and it really was unprotected Sex or drug use? How do you know?

 

What obese person can't say it must be thyroid because I watch what I eat.

But I guess it should be up to the citizenry (or insurance companies) to determine who is noble enough to receive treatment. Unless of course you are really rich, in which case, you won't be held accountable for bad decisions since you'll be able to afford to pay for care. Because the rich deserve treatment more than the poor.

Suppose there is something that you do that creates a health issue. Maybe even a medical condition that arises from some activity you deem as harmless (aspertane) and yet it creates a medical issue.

As to the statement, I hate to break it to you; you already pay for their health care. How many hospitals have taken in patients with no means to pay the bill? Where does all that cost go? To your bill. That's not ACA. That's the way it has been forever.

 

I just don't think you see the logistical problem your 4th statement creates and you haven't once said how you think such things can be monitored.

Our current healthcare costs more than universal healthcare system. We spend nearly 2 times of our GDP on healthcare than countries with universal care.

 

I know what you're getting at RTS. Until cost is controlled this program is impossible. In my view healthcare reform and the passage of a universal type system would include cost management measures.

 

I would love a system that covers everyone. I just don't want it to further burden the middle class. One thing I don't want is big brother controlling what everyone eats and drinks. We have enough government control now.

Does anyone know the position of hospitals on Obamacare? I'm sure they have a lobbying group. I wonder what they are promoting. Just looking at what I see hospitals seem to be making money hand-over-fist under Obamacare. My guess is it's because they aren't eating the cost of the uninsured anymore.

There are several models in the world to look at and pull from to extend healthcare to all citizens.

 

Is there one that works and also gives the quality of care that our system does? And a patient doesn't have to wait forever for care? Most single payer plans in other countries are lacking in quality of care.

All of them work. They just may work differently than what we are used to.

 

Are you sure they are lacking the quality of care? France is regarded to have the best healthcare in the world.

 

I'm not saying they are all perfect. But if other countries can make it work why can't we? Why can't we have the best ? We don't. But we spend the most.

One of the many sources that have been linked on here, two of the top six countries are using a (green) identification card for service, lowering costs by bypassing office personnel. The card would work with the physician's computers to set appointments and schedule tests. All medical conditions and prescriptions and any forms needing signatures would be sent to the doctor's computer that he carries from office to office before patient is seen. Insurance billing would be sent directly to insurance once patient has been seen. How much does it cost to run an office, and if any of you do, what would this save if it could be programmed to worked seamlessly with insurance? Could it work in the U.S.? Two of the top six countries listed were using this system.

There could be an office person added to keep things running smoothly.

Tort reform would help everything. If we are talking about things that increase costs in society, I think lawsuits cost us significantly more than government inefficiency. I can't think of anything that is a bigger drain on society than lawsuits.
