July 20, 20179 yr No it isn't. It's imploding because it was a pathetic, poorly thought through, weak excuse for healhcare that was pushed through so Obama could have something to hang his hat on. The hat rack broke like everyone knew it would. It never addressed the real issues and neither does what the Republicans are proposing. I agree Obama pushed through Obamacare but not because of a personal mission to hang his hat on something. He was fulfilling a major campaign promise. Obama was elected in large part because he promised to try and fix an already broken healthcare system. Our system was a mess long before Obamacare came along. Obamacare fixed some of the big issues that voters wanted fixed like pre-existing conditions. No doubt it needs a lot more work. And now Republicans are trying to fulfill an 8-year long promise of getting rid of Obamacare. If Republicans can't get together enough to put in place a good alternative, they at least want to make sure Obamacare fails.

Because you are basically saying from the moment the insurance, you're 21 years old, you start working and you're paying $12 a year for insurance, and by the time you're 70, you get a nice plan. Is he talking about Life insurance?
July 21, 20179 yr There are plenty. France, Canada, U.K., Switzerland, Australia, Singapore, etc... All have different qualities that may or may not be beneficial to our healthcare system. Let's not pretend that people don't leave here to get healthcare also. What's their population compared to ours? Again, until someone does something to rein in healthcare costs, it's unsustainable.

July 21, 20179 yr How do you think we fix cost? 1) Promote market competition. 2) Reduce or eliminate regulatory burdens. 3) Require reciprocity with regulatory entities in each state so insurance companies only have to negotiate with one entity instead of 50. 4) Hold people accountable for irresponsible personal decisions (Obesity, Drug Use , Alcoholism).
July 21, 20179 yr What kills me is these members of Congress that voted to repeal ObamaCare in 2015, when veto was certain, but in 2017 when signing of the bill into law was certain, they bailed. This is the problem when these office holders have no term limits. Once you give people free stuff, they will never vote to take it away.

Our current healthcare costs more than universal healthcare system. We spend nearly 2 times of our GDP on healthcare than countries with universal care. I know what you're getting at RTS. Until cost is controlled this program is impossible. In my view healthcare reform and the passage of a universal type system would include cost management measures.

There are horror stories everywhere. My point was we have an opportunity to rebuild healthcare, so we should look at some of the best qualities of systems all over the world. Continually propping the industry up and pretending we're the best is what we are really good at these days.

His daughter needed a minor surgery, he was pleasantly surprised with how quickly she was able to have it done. He was absolutely shocked when he got the bill.

How does one go about doing that? Is all liver disease tied to alcoholism? Is obesity only about eating? Is AIDS only from homosexual behavior? How do you verify that the causes of disease are from "illegal activity," "Immoral activity," or "Bad Life Choices?" What does that form look like?

It is not the responsibility of Government to save citizens from themselves!

Medical files first of all are private. But even they don't reveal what a person does on their own personal time. How many people contracted HIV/AIDS from transfusion? Hepatitis C the same way? How do we know? Because they said so. What keeps a patient from saying it was something like that and it really was unprotected Sex or drug use? How do you know? What obese person can't say it must be thyroid because I watch what I eat. Pioneer, the sentiment is good, the application is impossible IMO. So do all users of Dip who contract cancer get eliminated from coverage? What if you only smoked for 10 or 20 years and now you have cancer? How do we know that Uncle Bill isn't dying from something he used to do? Do we deny coverage? What about the child who is unvaccinated by the parents and contracts something? What does this kind of enforcement look like?
