April 4, 20179 yr No idea...that's not the issue that is being discussed. It's the unmasking of the names by the administration that seemed to be the issue. I may have misheard because I wasn't paying close attention at the time but I thought someone said today that they started listening in on the Trump Campaign early last year. If they had a FISA warrant (I have no reason to think they didn't) and were listening all last year, you'd think they would have found the proverbial smoking gun of Trump/Russian Collusion...if it existed. Agreed but at the same time I can't imagine that if Trump is in bed with Russia that he'd be dumb enough to get caught on wiretaps. I'm still floored that Flynn and Sessions got caught lying let alone a smoking gun being out there somewhere. I don't expect an investigation to turn up much at all.
April 4, 20179 yr Supposedly, they would need to be specific targets of investigation that present immanent threat. The Gowdy video posted probably has dialog that helps define and frame the supposed issue. They supposedly went to FISA more than once after being turned down. And FISA judges have turned almost no request for wiretapping. Back to the game. So there was or wasn't FISA court approval for wiretaps?

Obama) thought Trump could have possibly won they could have used the surveillance to listen in on all of the campaign talk. I'm sure Hillary is as mad as anyone knowing there was surveillance of the campaign and she probably could have used some of that info during the election. But no one cared about the campaign, because Trump had no chance!!! :lol2: Imagine the uproar if Trump has Sessions get a FISA warrant to listen to his opponents campaigns in 3 years, under the guise of National Security. Heads will explode!!!

FISAgate & Trump Russian Collusion: Questions Will Never Be Resolved | National Review First, they report that “ancillary” to the probe was some scrutiny of Trump associates and an investigation of “a computer server tied to Donald Trump’s businesses.” The server was not physically located in Trump Tower, but it was tied to Trump business headquartered there. The server probe was brief, and a FISA warrant was not sought. Instead, the FBI is said to have resorted to “traditional investigative techniques.” I would interpret that to mean it was done as a very preliminary criminal investigation (i.e., not a full-blown investigation, because there was only some vague suspicion, not probable cause of criminality). Carter and Solomon say the agents quickly concluded that “the computer activity in question involved no nefarious contacts, bank transactions or encrypted communications with the Russians.”
