Trump rolls back Obama climate orders

Featured Replies

I am not 100% on board with the climate change agenda. While some tout there is lots of evidence, I think a much longer span is required to understand this. Now if we did a study and knew all the records from 0 AD to now we might get a good read, but in the scope of time we are dealing with this could be nothing. I can find reports that support both sides. It appears the side that is screaming climate change are making a knee jerk reaction based solely on what people speculate at best not 100% conclusive data.

Forget the climate change piece of the puzzle. I don't understand the willingness to roll back progress and change that has resulted in a cleaner, safer environment.

Trump is wrong on climate change | Fox News

While I don't agree whole-heartedly with the above article, Trump has to acknowledge we need to prepare instead of ignore the problem.

I think it was a pretty fair article and the content was more insightful than the title belied. It is not a given that just because we passed regulations and spent a lot of money that it was done wisely. So rolling back things that are expensive and have little impact is a wise thing to do. To take those savings and invest in those environmental issues that we KNOW to need investment is the smart thing to do with the money...eg. research, reforestation, securing more undeveloped land, population control and ESPECIALLY outreach to the developing nations where the biggest risk is being realized. Just one man's opinion. Oh...and beer for all and peace on earth.

Hey, I was giving a Fox writer props. My issue is those who act like NOTHING is happening like our POTUS.

Just look at the poles and crazy shifts in weather patterns. Heck, if we aren't going to try to stop it let's at least prepare like the article said: Sea Walls, disaster preparedness, and focus on living in an ever changing climate.

Imagine the blackout and subsequent deaths an abnormally hot heatwave could cause.

I think we are on the same page.

I know this is a strange bedfellow, but Exxon just asked Trump to stay with Paris Climate Accord.

I have no doubt that climate change is happening. That said, I also have no doubt that our climate is ever changing. Warming patterns and cooling patterns have existed since the dawn of time. Here are some questions I have: 1. Is the current trend good or bad? 2. Has man had a positive or negative effect on climate, and how do we know? 3. Would the earth be better off warmer or cooler? 4. Would mankind be better off if our climate was warmer or cooler? I do not have a scientific mind and cannot answer these questions. If someone can answer them and provide facts to back up the answers, I would be very interested in learning from you.

Trying to simplify this, most of what I have seen would indicate the current warming trend is happening at a much faster pace than warming and cooling trends of the past and that is something we need to pay a lot of attention to.

Same here.

Doesn't affect us here, so most people don't feel it's an issue that needs to be dealt with.

Heck with the grandchildren.

I never did get that philosophy. Why not be good stewards?

My biggest concern with Trump is the long-term damage he could do to the environment with decisions he makes while he's in office. That's why I hope he's out sooner than later.

Until the big name climate change alarmists (George Clooney, Al Gore, Leonardo DiCaprio to name a few) start leading by example then I'm not going to get my panties all in a bunch. If it's not important enough to them to change their life style then it's not important enough to me to have to take a mortgage to fill my gas tank or file for bankruptcy after paying to heat my house.

I agree with you, I think if you advocate for the environment it should show in your own life. I don't know about the ones you mentioned. Do they live what they preach? I honestly don't know. I do believe that Ed Begley, Jr. has, for years, been true to this cause in his own life.

I agree we did talk about it back then. We talked about global cooling and the coming ice age that would possibly cover all of North America by 2000 :lol2:

Cooling, warming, cooling, warming...seems like there has been an on going cycle in the scientific world as to what is going on for my entire life.

Follow the money JD. If you don't promote the climate change agenda in any university, good luck getting the next grant. Is the climate changing? Sure it is. But when the same scientists 30 years ago that said we were going to have an Ice Age now complain about the ice caps melting, I just shake my head...and we are supposed to take their opinion as gospel? Heck, the weathermen struggle getting the forecast right three days in advance and I am going to trust what they say is going to happen in 50 years?? I don't buy it for a second. I do believe we should have clean water and air...who doesn't? But many of Obama's orders were put in place to punish industries.

Agreed about Begley, he lives the life from all that I've seen. Most of the others talk the talk but don't walk the walk.

Isn't money an issue on the other side too. Murray Energy CEO came out the other day saying these rollbacks would have little impact on coal jobs but would help the industry, or put more money in the corporations' pockets.
