Kasey has had the better career so far. But he also has the luxury of playing against weaker competition for the most part. I'm sure you Russell guys will have a field day with that comment :lol: I think without a doubt Matt will play at a higher level in college. He still has one year left and his running style and speed translate better at the college level. Kasey could be considered a better high school back who may already have reached his full potential. Matt on the other hand had TREMENDOUS upside at the next level. He could easily reach 200 lbs and still maintain his speed. Either way BOTH are great players and will receive a free college education, which is what really matters.

I don't think you can "draft" high school football players?? Okay maybe baseball players.

I would say Kasey is all but a lock to play D-1AA ball, so Matt Thomas better be getting some serious looks to say "he will player at a higher level"

The only thing Thomas has on Clark is the speed. Clark is bigger and stronger and a much better back. Maybe we should take a poll on it. I think Clark would win hands down.

I dont think Kasey is that much bigger or stronger, if at all. Especially considering that Matt has 1 more year of high school left.

Much like Beach, Thomas has a good head on his shoulders, I'm not sure we can say the same for Mr. Clark.:creepy:

Without any hesitation.....Matt Thomas. Heck, I would take the entire Ashland backfield over Russell's.

Kasey is the more complete back. He runs hard, has good speed and can "catch" the ball as well as run it. Thomas "hears footsteps" as a receiver and consequently drops more passes than he catches. He can certainly improve on this part of his game, but until he does, I vote for Kasey Clark.:thumb:

I don't have a dog in this fight, but from my observation, Thomas is a great back with alot of speed and abilities! He has great speed and vision and can make you miss. His biggest problem is that he does not like to get hit. Once a team delivers a big shot on him, he runs a little timid after that.

 

As for Clark, also a great back! His biggest hold-up is he does not have the great speed. Things that he accels at are that he does like to hit and runs as hard as he can every play. He also possess' the intangibles that make great backs, he seems to be a leader. Now, I don't know about Thomas' leadership ability, he may be also, but Clarks leadership is evident from the sidelines.

 

Weighing all of this I think Clark would get the edge, mostly based on his leadership abilities!

All good points, you must have seen both play quite a bit. I can say that I have seen both only on the field together as opponenets. Different styles and different personalities but great results from both. If you were to let me have either to build a team around I wouldn't complain. Comparing these two is like apples to oranges. If I were starting a team I would want them both.

I dont think Thomas will ever equal Clark's stats from High School, the question is who will end up and have the better college career. Thomas may have an edge there because of his speed, although Thomas will never equal Clark's toughness
