February 25, 20179 yr This was a "gutsy" performance by U.K. today. That second half was the way this team is capable of playing every night out ....and all of it without D. Fox ! Everyone really stepped up. Rebounding and Defense (2nd half) were key along with Monk going off for 28 in the 2nd half, 33 pt total. Adebayo w/ 15 reb and Willis with 9 boards and Briscoe 6 was a great rebounding game. Bam Adebayo ...18 pt, 15 rebounds and M. Monk's w/ 33 were key and imo you can't measure the way that D. Hawkins played, did the "grunt work" with 6 reb., 4 ast. and 2 steals. Two more regular season games to go. Vandy is in Rupp on Tues. for the U.K. Senior night. Going to be emotional for Hawkins, Willis (two in state KY. kids) and Mulder playing their last game in Rupp Arena.
February 25, 20179 yr Malik Monk is the best scorer I've ever seen wear a Kentucky uniform. It looks like he's finally putting it all together now. He shows it all in the 2nd half.
February 25, 20179 yr It looks like he's finally putting it all together now. He shows it all in the 2nd half. The other parts of his game have been in question at times, but he certainly gave the effort on the boards and on defense today which is what I want to see from him.
February 25, 20179 yr Sure seemed like they showed a lot of fight. Going down 8 in the 2nd half and then the big run. Man that was a fun game to be out.
February 25, 20179 yr Wife bought the tickets..2nd game together. 1st was the loss to Baylor a few years ago (Cal's first in Rupp). She was in jeopardy of never attending another game.
February 25, 20179 yr It looks like he's finally putting it all together now. He shows it all in the 2nd half. What makes you think that, he is very inconsistent IMO and disappears at times.
February 25, 20179 yr What makes you think that, he is very inconsistent IMO and disappears at times. He just went for 30 points in a half. Hush. No Malik bashing today.
February 25, 20179 yr Other than probably Gabriel and Mulder the Cats got good minutes and plays from the 6 players. Cats guaranteed a share of the 48th SEC Regular Season Title! How so? They have a 1 game lead with 2 games left?
February 25, 20179 yr What makes you think that, he is very inconsistent IMO and disappears at times. He's averaging 20 ppg. Gotta be pretty consistent to get to that point.
February 25, 20179 yr Bam ... 18 points, 15 rebounds. UK did what they had to do ... force the offense through Monk. They had no other scoring option on offense (other than Bam) and Monk came through in the second half. :thumb: I along w/ a lot of others have been screaming ...."Get it to Bam down low" all season !
February 25, 20179 yr Cats guaranteed a share of the 48th SEC Regular Season Title! If Kentucky loses to both Vanderbilt and Texas A&M, while Florida beats both Arkansas and Vanderbilt, the Gators would win it outright.
February 25, 20179 yr Best all around game the Cats have played all year. At least against a really good team. Yep, This one and the UNC game early in the season.
February 25, 20179 yr I also loved, want to give a shout out for the Rupp / BBN crowd today. When I am watching on t.v. and can barely hear the announcers/commentators that's what's needed every game in Rupp !
February 25, 20179 yr Yep, This one and the UNC game early in the season. They didnt play defense that UNC game. Today they played good defense and rebounded to go with it.
February 25, 20179 yr I said it after the UNC game. Monk reminds me of Kobe when he was young. High volume shooter who is going to keep shooting even when they are not falling. Then when he gets hot, he can make even contested shots. On top of that the ability to drive and great hops. His drive and lob to Bam in the second half looked like Kobe to Shaq back in the day. I have been critical of Bams rebounding or lack thereof considering his size. The last few games he has been great and getting in great position to get those rebounds. I wonder if Orlando Ontangio (sp.) Has stopped by at all since he got fired?
