9th Region Draw

Featured Replies

Should be a fun tournament with lots of good teams and players.

My expectation is with the masses that Cooper will play CCH for a trip to Rupp.

For CCH to win out, they need their 7 foot Walter to take and make more than 3 shots per game (according to the stats I saw he took 5 shots in two district games); he passes up way too many. Also, if Walter can't guard McNeil on the perimeter, CCH has a couple underclassman that can and will also contribute on offense but Ruthsatz doesn't play them much. This was their downfall to NCC in last year's championship.

For Cooper, they need a team effort with at least 3 players scoring in double digits -which they are very capable of as all their starters can contribute. If McNeil's 3's are falling along with the rest of their arsenal - look out. Their defensive speed in the back court can play with all those in region and most in the state.

In their previous meeting, both teams played their hearts out with each having a key player on the IR. Should the championship come down to CCH and Cooper, this game may once again come down to whoever has the last possession.

Agree, you either have close to double digit blocks and rebounds or you have double digit points. If Cooper's 3 are hitting, I'd watch out, and then having him in there won't help much.

Zero point Zero chance Jake Walter guards Sean McNeil.

For the record I have no inside info. I'm giving somewhat intelligent speculation.

When CCH is in man with Jake in the game he will guard Blaine Walters or the big boy that comes off the bench. I would guess you will see AJ and Cole get the Sean assignment.

When Jake comes out you will see (again - no inside info) a combo of Nick Thelen and frosh Michael Mayer take over guarding the 5.

Lloyd looks awfully tough coming into the tournament beating Dixie by 28. Woww. Kudos to Key. He has his boys playing...

True but then one game before that they had to hold off St. Henry to even make the District Final. So I would lump Lloyd in with NCC, Ryle, Newport, Holy Cross and Dixie on the Inconsistent Bus.

^Good point. How is it that Ryle looks so bad against Cooper, but beats Conner 3 times. I know Cooper is loaded, but near 35 (twice)??

Also, is Dixie inconsistent after just one loss to Lloyd? Albeit, I know it was a blowout, but just one game....

If it ends up being Cooper and Lloyd in the semi's I don't think the Juggs will be able to handle the defensive pressure that the Jags will put on them.

I just think Dixie has had more close games wins than they should have (Lloyd 2 points, Beechwood 4 points, St. Henry 11 points) and lost to all the really good teams (CovCath and Cooper etc) on the schedule. They might be at the back of the bus but still on the bus.

^ understood.

I guess the question that should be asked is this.... In some way, shape, or form, do we get the matchup everyone seems to want? The grandaddy of them all... Cooper Vs. CovCath.

Or...

Any chance of Ryle Vs. Holy Cross in the final?

Anyone know which region will be officiating this tournament? And, if so, how are they?

There is always the chance of upsets on a big college floor with changing lights and nothing behind the basket. Cooper vs CovCath is most likely but certainly not guaranteed.

I actually think it is a guarantee of it being CovCath vs Cooper.

16th I believe, it is in another thread on ref assignments.
